I agree with the post above, just tell them what your range is and then sit quietly (which will be super difficult).
If I were in your shoes, I would simply say that my salary range is between $120-$140k and I’m certain we can come to the right total compensation together (meaning you and the company in agreement on salary). It says you want to work with them, in partnership as you would as an employee, and also asserts your awareness of your value. If you want to land on $130k, state over that number and you’ll likely end up at $130k. And it is perfectly reasonable for you to ask for what you are worth, be prepared to show that in your interview, state the problem you solve for the company and how that will generate revenue (in the short or long-term). There are candidates who ask for a lot of money with no evidence to demonstrate their ability to perform at a higher compensation structure, which shows a lack of experience in the work force. Companies want to hire problem solvers, that’s really what we all do in our roles, so operate on your strengths and state it up front…… and then say nothing after that😁. You will likely want to say why or couch it, but don’t. Go get after it!!!!!

Tell them that with your current compensation and salary expectations, the higher end of the band is more compelling
Negotitiate and justify the increase. Lay all your cards such as yoe, skills and relevant accomplishments. You just have to be honest about your salary expectations.
Just be honest about what you need to take the job.
