I'd like to find a job as a legal textbook copyeditor for a legal publisher. Anyone know how I can land that type of gig? Thanks!

The advice I’ve been given in the past with this kind of thing was to find the name of someone already doing what you want to be doing and just message them on LinkedIn to ask about their career path.
Sounds dorky but it works - people LOVE to talk about themselves lol.
Plus, you never know, they could introduce you to others in the industry and/or they might know someone who’s hiring!
Good luck, OP! 🍀

Interviewed for 5.5 hours today at a boutique IB today. Base comp is a slight bump. 14 mos in FDD @ PwC who will make senior this CRT - love the role but want to see more of the transaction besides TBs and TB detail. Comp isn’t a huge bump but the IB seems to have a good culture. 20 people. I really am struggling. I worried about FDD golden handcuffs with limited exit ops. Please advise!!! How should I navigate this and assess it from an unbiased perspective. Thx!

An observation: It’s very funny how junior (especially first year) associates working in transactional law can spend an entire deal screwing up signature pages, checklists, and redlines.... and then complain that it’s BS they’re “doing administrative tasks instead of legal work.”

Plaintiffs counsel took my clients deposition today. He mentioned that he would likely be ordering the transcripts and I suggested we split the cost of them (in front of court reporter). He got pretty defensive and said absolutely not, it’s unfair to the court reporter, and that it is frowned upon in the industry to do that. Each party orders (and pays for) their own copy. I’m in my 2nd year of practice, never heard such a thing. I’ve actually split the cost before! Curious for insight on this…

Side note - it speaks volume when multiple associates are trying to lateral at the same time
