It really is personal and depends on how dissatisfied you are, but moving to a new role just substitutes one problem for another and resets the clock on when you will be an attractive candidate unless your area of practice is in high demand. If you can stick it out until you can land the right role that is best professionally (although it may not be best for your mental health - you know best). Are you sure you interview poorly? It really can take dozens of interviews to land a new position.

So I think a couple of things, one make sure in your interviews you aren’t giving the impression your miserable. Are you sure you aren’t self sabotaging? I wouldn’t just apply to escape, you’re just kicking the can and then will have the added pressure of being a flight risk. A lot of places are hiring fully remote so I think if you broaden your range you might have more jobs.
In the meantime, work 9-5, keep on top of things, make sure they don’t fire you, ans grind out til you find a better role.
(Continued) I mean, no one is telling me to leave but I just don’t see a future for me at this company. I made the wrong decision to come here. My managers who hired me left and the new manager just does not respect me and my experience and gives me random unfulfilling work and is indirectly making me lateral to another company. I am so miserable not only because I do not enjoy my work but also because I am not successful with my interviews and can’t escape.
Finding the right in-house opportunity can be tricky. Set up job alerts on LinkedIn, consider remote opportunities so you are not geographically limited, review job boards like www.legal.io/jobs, network as much as possible, check alumni job resources, work with a recruiter if your practice area is in demand because they can do the heavy lifting of finding opportunities, presenting you and being persistent with their clients.
As far as applying for roles you don't think you'd be happy at; it depends. Would you not be happy because of a commute, well the location won't change so that's a deal breaker and don't bother. Would you not be happy because of your perception of the company - maybe still apply and talk directly to the people you would be working with about the work that they do and you might change your mind.
I hope this is helpful - keep at it and you'll find the role you want. For context some lateral moves happen as quickly as 4-8 weeks others take over a year!
