Very true, especially at lower ranks. Your relocation cost can easily add 50%+ to your first years total comp from the companies perspective. For some one with less than 5-10yrs experience a company can just find that locally. One way to get around that (if you don’t have much stuff and your relo would be flights+shipping) is to list “xyz area” on your resume that corresponds to your target city. Then make sure you get enough of a sign on bonus to cover travel for interviews and your own relo. This is how banking recruiting works at bschool

How do you manage taking on new clients when you are already so busy on other ones? With manager promote coming soon, my teams are going to drop my time (which I get since I will be a manager). But we have no reliable senior or recurring staff. Pretty much opening my schedule up for more client load but I’m still going to need to spend just as much time on my current clients. I feel like I’m about to be thrown to the wolves :(. Any advice much appreciated!

I just started subleasing a room at my new apartment early (actual lease starts mid august, moved in early because one old tenant moved out already). The bathroom is disgusting and clearly hasn’t been cleaned for months. There’s huge brown stains/mold around the drains and the shower gets backed up quickly so I have to turn it on/off so the water doesn’t go up over my ankles. I’m so grossed out, and I realize an obvious solution is that I can clean it myself, but I feel like they should. Advice?
