Have you even spoken to anyone in the actual firm about it like your direct HR contact or partner
Very true, especially at lower ranks. Your relocation cost can easily add 50%+ to your first years total comp from the companies perspective. For some one with less than 5-10yrs experience a company can just find that locally. One way to get around that (if you don’t have much stuff and your relo would be flights+shipping) is to list “xyz area” on your resume that corresponds to your target city. Then make sure you get enough of a sign on bonus to cover travel for interviews and your own relo. This is how banking recruiting works at bschool
Appreciate the insight; guessing changing my home area on my resume may help a lot. The lack of relocation support is poopy though.
What about transferring with BCG first and then locally, and calmly looking for something else ? Is there an urgency to change jobs ?
I changed my city on LinkedIn in hopes of attracting more recruiters in the city I’d like to move to, but I haven’t noticed a huge change
You work at BCG. You have lots of demand. If you’re intent on moving, quit your job and move. You’ll get another job in 3 months time. If your company really wants you, they will relocate you.
