IMO 20k really isn't much, and with 6-8 years on your side, just toss it all in SPY/VOO/VTI and call it a day.

EY, good job saving and excellent move on thinking ahead, especially in this time horizon, it’ll hopefully make for some solid returns. $20k: That’s a lot of money and more than the average American will ever be able to save. So I think you can be proud of having this available, everything counts! (And D1 is a D for his remarks.). Three ETFs are a great set up, something that covers the whole market. Check out Bogleheads.org, they’ll also have you a few solid ideas re portfolio options.
