Ideas on what to get with tech stipend? I already have somewhat of a set up so nothing is springing to mind. Would appreciate any and all ideas 💡

Over the years I've used it for two monitors, a docking station, keyboard, mouse, mouse mat, printer, webcam, microphone, headphones, external fingerprint scanner, paper shredder. Other options include a desk chair, foot stool, desk lamp, privacy screen, etc.

I got a set of Bose 700 headphones. The sound quality isn’t as good as the QC series but the microphone is best out there.

like

+1 microphone quality is great, but damn these 700s are so uncomfortable compared to the QC.

A big second monitor and maybe a standing desk

Remarkable tablet 2 or
Logitech mx master 3 or
Extra wide curved monitor or
Ergonomic chair/ sit&stand stool (like ikea trollberget) or
New headset?

APC UPS Battery Backup and Surge Protector
Recommend to me by firm IT after my computer started having troubles at home.

Firm computer- IT thinks that my outlet was surging and causing my laptop to have issues. I’m having an electrician come out from my building management. Either way, it’s not the firms fault I have an outlet problem and the firm is getting me a new laptop this week.

Fujitsu Scansnap

I spent my first stipend on getting a good printer, ink, paper, an extra screen, chargers, etc. my second stipend went to standing desk and ergonomic chair

It amuses me to see that -
Companies sumtym prefer selecting guys who did their bachelor's from some private shitpot college than someone from a very good government college.

If someone has showed grit in past by toiling to get into top 10 colleges - he is going to give company better results in operational efficiency and creativity than a guy who scored 50-60% and spend lakhs for admission without any struggle?

HR guys -do u evn know hw much struggle that is? Do you factor dat in ur decision?

Looking for flat with car parking, single room, fully furnished. If anyone is looking for same kind of flat we can check it together.

December feels like a country song. Two dogs died on the 1st. A hard rain exposed latent roof damage and collapsed ceiling in two rooms. Stove, fridge and water heater all went out on the same day last week. Yesterday my spouse said they needed a break from the chaos through the holidays and left. Today a positive covid test. And 7 deals trying to close before year end requiring my full attention so none of the aforementioned can get any attention.

Associates, don’t let this become you.

How do you handle micro managers? I’m a second year transactional associate and for the most part the partners and senior associates I work for trust me to get the work done. I’m a 3rd year lit associate in BigLaw and fortunate to have earned substantive early experience—taking depos, arguing discovery motions, full ownership of briefing, case management while working closely with the partner on the strategy. I burned out and the pandemic reminded me it’s nice to see my husband. I’m considering a (nonBigLaw) transactional role. I’m nervous- of course I have transferable skills, but I’ve been living off my lit skills. Any advice or has anyone else felt this way?
