Tell the partner immediately. If you are still able to work for the time being, you should still tell the partner about the situation so they are on notice that they might need to line someone up to cover for you.
No one in big law is so indispensable that they can't be spared for a family emergency.

Family first. The firm can restaff. You are not Atlas--the fate of the firm does not rest on your shoulders alone.
Do not choose work and regret it, should, G*d forbid, parent takes a turn for the worse.
You are not slacking. This is an emergency.
Your parent is in my prayers.
I mean this in the nicest way possible. You are 100% replaceable on this deal.
You are 0% replaceable to your family.
If you tell the partner and they do anything except tell you to go be with your family if you need to, I would look for a different place to work.
Agreed.
Totally echo the above. It’s important to raise it now so they can start thinking about who they can draft in even if you didn’t want to step down from the deal immediately. Other associates (probably more than one) will absolutely understand and be happy to cover for you even if they’re having a crunch week. The firm and the deal will go on, even if it’s hard work for a while.
It’s times like this that people remember there is more to life than work. Wishing you and your family all the best.

Go to be with your family. They really need you. The firm and partner can manage and restaff.
