“Sometimes the best way to move up, is to move out” ... this might be a good time to look for outside opportunities with an org that values your skills better than D.
I’m in the same boat D I have always been way bottom of my band but considered a high performer yet SCs who I manage are making well more than I am who are brand new and cannot even run a client meeting and I’m a 3rd year M. I’m sadly going to start looking after 9 years of dedicating myself I realized I will never be compensated appropriately. It is true we should be thankful for the job but I should have been compensated appropriately in previous years and it will never rectify. I have been working on average 60-80 hours per week for 9 years and my life isn’t worth it. I can make the same amount with a lot less stress or more to continue what I am doing.
I would also like to add that our firm will not be able to sustain itself with the “talent” we would rather pay for and lax accountability/work ethic I have noticed in the last 3 years. A lot of stress goes on M and above who actually end up doing the work and it’s not worth it if not even making the amount the staff is. I know this is not accurate for some SCs but I have had some major team struggles in the past 3 years. All of the talent at the upper levels will leave and those being “bred” will not be able to provide the level of performance and service clients pay for because of how they’re being coddled now.
