I'm SM with offer to exit but I've spent a fair amount of time engaging client at the csuite and board level. Got offers in tech (strategy& ops) but worried about lack of visibility/sexy work. Cont..
Does anyone sign their emails at the end with their initials of their first and last name? I'm not sure how I feel about that, I've noticed quite a lot of people in the firm and at the client who do.
Anyone else feel like their actual work is very disconnected from their paycheck? If I do a great job and create a ton of value for the client I’ll get a maximum of a 15% TC increase YOY (much less due to covid). Similarly if I do the absolute minimum it’s really hard to be fired since I’m in a hot market and they can’t decrease my TC without cutting my base pay (which I’m 99% sure they won’t do). And my raise/bonus won’t even necessarily be indicative of my performance anyways.
Help! Received offer from client which I don’t intend on accepting. I would like to use it as way to bump up my pay internally. How should I go about doing this?
What’s the end goal for tech consultants at a big 4? Is it partnership? What if you want to remain technical / not lose tech skills? I enjoy problem solving but seem but also enjoy being client facing and feel like I’m at a crossroad
So I’ve been on a big tech client adv project for months now and have formed a good relationship with one of the contacts. She’s dropping hints about open positions, and they would pay me about 40% more and I like the company culture, so I want to work there. Will there be a noncompete or other internal problem if I go work for them / tell them I’m interested at the very least?
Does conflicts ever not clear? I am currently adverse to an institutional client of the new firm. The firm does not represent that client in that case. Is this a cause for concern or can they just wall me off?
My project is requiring a lot of time commitment during early hours and evening and it’s getting hard to pick up LO from day care. I wanted advise frm ppl who have hired help for pick/drop off.
Trying to get out of consulting and into some sort of project management. Can I do this without taking a pay cut? If yes, anyone willing to review my resume?
First week in Big 4 and everyone is asking me to join their reinvest project… how do I say no? Or should I be taking in as much as possible? Just worried about burn out.
What steps has your organization taken to account for the rising COVID cases in India and the business / personal impact due to it? If you do have a India presence, that is. I am looking for ideas related to client communication, expectation setting, employee specific actions, etc.
TFW you actually get sick the day of the Super Bowl but know everyone's just going to think you're hungover if you don't make it to client site the next day
Currently in public accounting but want to specialize and focus on managing client's money (In terms of a budgeting perspective) and helping them save money. I assume this would go towards the tax planning and CFP route. Not sure how to ask my boss and present it this method. Thoughts?
I have seen a lot of interest in PM roles in this group. Can anyone explain the difference between product and program management? Is product more strategic vision and program is basically glorified project management?
Lots of us are skilled at delivery but most sales books seem to focus on the pitch and closing... What are your best resources for learning to develop and nurture strong, lasting client relationships?
Deloitte 🐠: Can people who got 1 or 2 ratings before share your metrics, i.e client/adj utilization, PRD hours, applaud awards, anything else...Thanks!
Starting at McK (NA) next month and my training just moved from in-person to virtual - are you all seeing a decline in business travel because of covid concerns? I'd heard that a lot of teams had started to travel over the past few months
Leaving for my MBA at the end of June. My team doesn’t know - when’s the best time to tell them?
Have an opportunity to roll of a 6-month engagement soon. PPEDs & SMEs would like me to return (minimum another 6 months). Client work is something I have absolutely no interest in (open SOW so a lot of BAU work). That being said, I don’t have another engagement lined up. I have been networking but my conversations have translated into involvement in pursuits/leads. I’d be walking away from guaranteed utilization on a G360 account and a potential agile promotion in May..gamble or not? thoughts?
When your partner puts time on your calendar for a one on one next week with zero context…it is promotion season but I’ll surely be overthinking this for the next week! 😬😬
The client keeps saying “your welcome.” Lord give me the strength to make it until Christmas.
Would you leave consulting (if you hate it) for your dream job and a 50% pay cut? Current salary = average post-MBA salary at T1/T2.
Soooo turns out vaccines don’t protect you from long COVID. Do we still wanna go back to the office and risk that? I don’t.
Bonvoy Titanium. Did not get a complimentary suite upgrade at a Ritz, but I was offered a suite upgrade for a cost. Meaning they had some available. Can they do that? If they have suites available, don’t they have to upgrade me? I know Ritz plays by slightly different rules, so curious
I’m applying to the pre-MBA MBB programs but am undecided between a non HSW M7 and Tuck with $. Does listing one school over the other have an advantage?
Hey McKinsey Fish! Is there any real luck of applying to a job on the website? I applied to an implementation role that I know I would be qualified for but without any referral. Been a few weeks so was just hoping to atleast see a rejection 😁
Frm BOS, regular 8 AM flight w/first class upgrade gets cancelled. On 9 AM flight w/10 people on the upgrade list. Check in & rqst for an upgrade. Bump every1 else down and get upgraded to 1 open seat
Interviewing for a great position in industry (tech). They have equity comp & great benefits. Spoke to their HR, then interviewed with 2 people in the tax department and am getting scheduled for a next round of interviews. The only problem is: the office is about 1 hr from my house (I own). They said repeatedly that they want someone who will be in the office 5 days a week. I would actually move but can’t rent out my place now due to some repairs going on that will take 4-5 months. Thoughts?
What percentage of your yearly income do you spend on your car? Car - TC - City 2016 Chevrolet Malibu (19K) - TC 210K - San Francisco 10%
just told I need to reduce my charge hours from 45 to 40 / week. Not reducing my work scope, just amount of time I can charge. I know I shouldn't be angry, given that the bench is huge, but still sad
