How many pages is your resume/CV? Apparently the rule of thumb is 1 page, but is this different for those in healthcare or research? And do you include your publications? Thanks in advance!

Today my school officially put up signs for “masks strongly encouraged” in red. DONT MIND IF I DO! I’m so glad I can walk around without one now. I do not care if anyone judges me. I am so excited about it. Our principal suggested that we “serve our community” with the new protocol, which is silly. Please let me love my life in peace. If my face is a health concern, here is another mask that you can triple up with.
Hi everyone! I’m in San Francisco and am interviewing with a health tech company that shared an initial range of $125-135K for a Senior Manager, Communications role. That seems super low, and I was making much more agency side as a VP. Anyone willing to share their salary as a in-house Senior Manager, Communications in the Bay Area?

I’ve been in the insurance business for nearly 15 years. My main job functions were customer service and claims processing. My base salary has only peaked to 40(ish)k without OT. I’m looking to evolve into a higher paying position. Any advice as to what positions I could look into?
IRA question - I’m planning to do a backdoor Roth conversion for the first time this year. I understand the first step is to open a traditional IRA and fund it (up to $6k), second step is to convert it to Roth. If I fund the traditional IRA with savings, do I get taxed again when I convert to Roth? How do I file this when I do my taxes to make sure I don’t pay taxes twice on the 6k?

I understand there are lots of factors that can change this that are outside of income (such as down payment, family circumstances, etc)
But generally, how many times more should your house be worth over your income? (Min max maybe)

Welp, I’ll never work for an insurance defense firm again! Cut throat mentality and no common courtesy for their employees.
Looking for lifestyle firms in Denver. Any suggestions? 2nd year litigator here at V100, willing to take the pay cut for WLB.
I’m trying to help a friend fill out a privacy release form to allow a senator’s office to inquire about the status of their refugee application. It asks for his case type and has a bunch of codes to choose from. He does not know his case type but I can explain his situation. Can someone who knows about immigration law DM me with assistance? I would greatly appreciate it!
I switched firms this year to a boutique (~15 attys) that pays out sizable year end bonuses (I was told during the hiring process at least 75% of our base salary for associates). The year is winding down and no one is talking about timing, amounts, etc. My self-eval was due yesterday and I’ve tried to politely ask about “expectations” in that context with other associates but no one is spilling the tea. Is there an industry standard timing for this? Am I being too polite?
Anyone in this bowl did the CAMS exam? If so, is this an exam that can be passed without AML experience?
Prosecutor here considering career shift. I’m a first year DA making $87k in CA and have very good work/life balance + benefits. I’m passionate about the work but honestly need to make more to buy a house/someday raise a family in OC area. Any former prosecutors here feel the same way? Any insight from those in private sector re: higher pay but (possibly) worse hours? Considering L&E or plaintiff PI
Just finished articling at a firm and was offered a position to stay on with them. I was offered another position at another firm which I want to take but not until the new year. My current firm is now pressuring me to sign a contract with them where it stipulates I would need to provide 1 month notice. Do I sign and quit as originally intended? I was planning on beginning at the new firm in February. Or should I let them know my intentions sooner? I’m afraid it will effect my year end bonus.
I'm wondering if this is accepted practice. My firm has a computer monitoring system that takes pictures of what you're working on every 5 seconds. The firm's HR/office manager then uses this to determine if you're working while you're in the office. Ex) I have outlook opened on my computer, but I'm inactive on my computer b/c I'm reading a paper file. This individual will walk into my office to see why I'm not 'working'. Getting pretty fed up.
Have I limited my options by clerking for five years at the state level? (2 yrs for criminal judge, 2 yrs as staff attorney for a different trial court, 1 yr clerking at appeals court) I’m starting to look for a civil litigation position for next year. I have an open mind on the practice area.
Has anyone moved from attorney, to in-house at a company (more legal compliance/HR then the legal department), stayed there for a while, and then transitioned back to being an attorney? I’m thinking about taking a Human Resource position/compliance roll (employment law is my background) but I’m worried that in the future it will look bad on my resume if I want to transition back into being an attorney if I dislike the HR/compliance position. I’ve been practicing 2 years.
First year review: I have to become a better legal writer/ writer in general. Writing was never a strong suit and this has to change.
Please drop book recommendations!!
Thoughts on: 1) the winning brief; 2) point made; 3) legal writing in plain English
I've been using the free version of Casetext for a few years. It's fast, basic, and I like it. Unfortunately, they have gone subscription only. The firm has (and I dislike) Westlaw. Any good alternatives to Casetext that provide for lightweight, fast case resources?
When a partner you haven't yet worked with sends you an email that just says "available?" in the subject line and no message in the body, how do you respond if you're busy on a deadline and not sure whether they have a normal project or need a fire drill you can't deliver? (Partners, please don't do this to us) 😱
How do you deal with the boring, mind-numbing aspects of your job? For example, I enjoy being a litigator, but I hate doing doc review.
Besides for county and local bar associations, are there any good networking groups for big law associates?
Currently waiting to give notice (background/conflicts check still processing) and cannot bring myself to do any work, someone please motivate me to do something lol I feel like one look at my hours for the last week is going to raise a major red flag
I don't think prosecutors should get peremptory strikes. They should only be allowed to strike for cause.
