It’s totally appropriate and should be the norm. But be prepared for them to deflect and avoid giving you any numbers. If they do, I typically don’t bother pursuing any further.
That’s a good strategy to weed them out! I wouldn’t want a firm that isn’t proud to share their salary expectations anyway. Thank you!
Absolutely. You’re in the driving seat and should know the details. If they’re reaching out to you then it means they can roughly see you have some of the skill set. Make sure you get all the facts before making a career changing decision…. hope this helps.

I have been doing that recently unless they specifically indicate it’s for a large well funded position - I have gotten some that are roughly 50% of my current TC and it’s not worth any of our time to keep talking.

They usually have some sort of agreement with a client that they can’t disclose the client name or salary before a conversation with you
I can confirm this, but if you have the conversation, they tell you.
