If an international Marriott hotel charged me a no-show fee and the hotel agents are assholes about this, how do I reach out to someone on their corporate team? Is there an e-mail? Tweet?

If you booked with a credit card with cancellation insurance, this should be covered as it was a medical decision from your doctor. Check with your cc terms

Did you book and no-show? Yes, pay it per the terms you agree to on booking. Did you not do this and or have status? Contact your status reservation line

I paid via points 6 months prior and had to cancel 1 week before arrival due to the fact we found out we were pregnant. (Yay, finally!) Doctor said no traveling internationally so we canceled all airfare and hotels. This hotel had a 2-month cancellation policy so 1-week prior to arrival I opened a case with Marriott regarding the cancellation. No response from hotel all week, so day of arrival, titanium line just canceled it and refunded my points back. 3 weeks after, they charge me $1,300 for a “no show.” I’ve got open cases right now with their office of consumer affairs but all they do is send my request to the hotel, which sticks to their $1,300 fee and are steadfast. Last year, I spent $23,000 + 90 nights with Marriott... just hoping for a little more flexibility?

I know the Whistler properties have a 2-month cancellation

Seems like you cancelled outside of the cancellation period you agreed to. I don’t think you can fight something you consented to

It seems like both on here and TLS there has been a lot of discussion lately of non-legal exit ops with a biglaw corporate background, and especially from a v10. Most of the discussion is centered on finance and investing roles in NYC. The conclusion is typically that it is very difficult but doable with the right background and luck. I’m curious if anyone has been able to lateral from a v10 to a non legal role in a smaller market where their experience stands out more than in NYC?
