So I applied for a position & received feedback from the hiring manager stating that the position that I applied for was filled internally but they would like consider me for another position. So I interviewed and two days later, I was offered the position. Went through a background check & negotiated salary. It’s been almost 2 months and they stated that the delay is due to internal HR issues since the dept director did not create a new job requisition for the job they offered me. Thoughts?

Is there a way to retrieve the offer letter from workday portal. My offer was released today and after e-signing it, I submitted my offer without downloading it. And now although my workday portal shows as offer accepted, the offer letter is no longer visible in the portal.

I’m a little confused on the electric vehicle tax credit. I’m filling out Form 8936 and it appears to have a maximum credit of $2,500. However, I am reading that the maximum credit is $7,500 if your tax/AGI meet the criteria which it does in this case. What am I missing here? The form clearly shows $2,500 so where is the $7,500 coming from? Also, is there carryover to next year’s return if all of it isn’t use? Looks like maybe form 8834 if I’m reading it correctly?

For those who work in the state and local (MTS) practice, would you say working on income tax or indirect tax (sales tax) would give you better exit opportunities and a better chance of a career outside of public accounting?

I left public accounting for industry about 1.5 years ago. I was a senior in a PCS group. I'll be looking to get back into PA in a PCS group once I get licensed. Does being out of PA for 2 years mean I should look for an experienced staff role, or could I get a senior position? My industry role isn't tax related, so I would have to get back up to speed on all the tax changes in the past couple of years.

This is a great strategy even before the understaffing issues in PA, but being mediocre or just above average so you don’t burn out from PA seems like the ultimate strategy right now. If you can wait it out then you pretty much just move up by default since people are leaving or not even going into to the profession. You’ll eventually be a partner unless your firm sells to private equity.
