Lately I’ve been feeling pay by bracket policy is very counter productive. When I came from my prev company, I had salary at the higher bracket due to market correction and novartis offer coinciding. Now after a couple of years, I see that people who were hired before or after me on a lower package have somewhat similar package as me cause of the pay brackets despite me performing better. I am an ETL developer who got a chance to work on spark recently within my organization. Initially struggled and now got comfortable with scala spark in my project. I am looking to change job in data engineering but most JDs I see are asking for pyspark and not scala spark, only few are asking scala or Java or python.

Should I really learn python and pyspark as well to be able to find more opportunities? Or should I only apply for scala based roles?

Transferred some stock in kind from one brokerage to another but noticed that each transferred stock appears to be bought at the current price on the day of the transfer (eg. if avg price of my TSLA stock was $500 before transferring now it’s showing $620). Now I’m freaking out because it seems like as a result I’ve erased all my historical gains on the stocks that I had bought at a much lower price years ago? Am I missing something or did I just lose all my unrealized gains by transferring?
