Hey y’all, what’s Tax senior 1 in Big 4 compensation look like in the Southeast? Looking to come back home from a high COL northeast. Mainly looking at Charlotte, NC. Responses are much appreciated 😊
How do you think a swap from MBB to big4 strategy would be viewed? Currently in a flagship office of an MBB and there is basically no strategy. There are 9 miserable cost outs / transformations / PMOs for every 1 borderline strategy case. The staffing lottery in my region means you almost always end up working 75 hours+ on some god forsaken project. Contrast that to what I hear about big 4 strategy: lower hours and more strategy exposure as the crappy projects go to the other MC departments
Anyone make the jump from Big 4 to ACN? What were the biggest differences you noticed. Currently at a B4, and looking for a change.
I moved from B4 to industry accounting about 5 years ago. I currently work as a corporate accounting manager at a software company. I recently hired an big 4 audit senior right out of public and I’m struggling to get him up to speed. Does anyone have an example of reasonable vs unreasonable expectations for a senior accountant moving to industry after 2-3 years at B4 audit?
Currently considering offers from 2 big 4 firms for entry level audit opportunities. I’m a bit concerned about the burn out that everybody’s talking about in PA. Any advice on how to avoid it or at least minimize the effects?
Anyone have a link for interview questions for someone interviewing at a mbb firm from big 4 advisory? If you don't have a link posting a question you think I should be prepared for is appreciated
Advice from PwC fish needed.. I posted a week ago about an offer for an A1 “experienced associate” from PwC -team is digital assurance transparency. Even tho I thought that sounded off, I ended up accepting. My letter just said Associate @ 68k base. Now I have access to People Path & my job level says A2. So is PwC on a cohort model, or not? Is there anything I can do here? I pushed back hard on the A1 vs A2 thing b4 signing and the recruiter was adamant I would be an A1
1. What is the difference in strategy consulting and advisory (hours, work, companies)? 2. Do the big 4 do strategy consulting or is that MBB? 3. If you’re (hypothetically a first year) in an advisory role, can you switch to strategy consulting at another company?
Got reached out to by a recruiter for a Principal Consultant Role at Infosys. Does anyone know what the equivalent t level is at big 4 firms and any insight into the role ? Thanks!
Anyone here from EY Tysons Corner (Assurance Service Line) want to tell me about the firm culture, is it a great learning environment, client base? I got an offer for Senior 1 but want to be sure I’m making the right decision to go Big 4 or jump down to mid-tier. SN: I started at a smaller National firm but left years ago for industry so I’ll be coming in somewhat starting from square 1 but at a senior 1 level.
I’m a financial services advisory partner at a non-B4 and now 61. (Was B4 for several years at MD level). Can still go for a few years, but what next? Am losing a little interest in the day-to-day. Ideas welcome
Any B4 to MBB experienced hires (excluding MBA recruiting) here? Would love to hear about any advice you have about applying.
Need Opinion: Is it worth the effort and money to pursue an MBA while been a manager in Big 4? Essentially, does help to step up my career. Currently Manager in Cyber, but want to try something different like finance or corporate strategy etc. Open to any other ideas or suggestions. Please enlighten me with your opinions. Thank you in advance.
Brand name versus type of experience. Assume experience at the brand name will be less relevant to what I want to do long-term. The “brand” in this case is not Big 4/MBB
Decided that I’m leaving audit today. Trying to understand the full range of opportunities in forensics. Will have my CPA and CFE. So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? Honestly just looking to learn anything.
What do u tell strangers that u do for a living when u don't want to explain what a big 4 auditor is
I have been seeing lot of LinkedIn posts of Googlers leaving after <2-3 years at Google On the other hand, there are those who have been trying for years to get into Google. So what are some reasons current Googlers leave after such a short time there?
Some interesting info from the AP regarding cuts to CDC funding and whether protocol / teams are in place to handle Coronavirus. https://apnews.com/d36d6c4de29f4d04beda3db00cb46104
Which one to go for in terms of long term learning and growth perspective? Sr. Consultant at Deloitte - M&A Consulting Vs Sr. Associate at BCG - Generalist Consultant And are both the roles comparable to one another or one is higher in designation than other? PS: Salary is comparable in both, almost equivalent, so, not a fator in the equation of decision.
What was the Parthenon Group like before the EY acquisition? How was it perceived compared to MBB, Big 4, etc. in terms of prestige, exit opps, etc.?
Anyone else severely disappointed in the 401k options available? Specifically index fund availability. My KPMG fund only has one available that matches the S&P 500. No small or mid cap. Suggestions?
What are MBB offices like? Are they similar to Big 4 offices? Why have I never seen 'McKinsey' written on a building like I see with Big 4
When you flex trip, do you expense the uber from the airport to the hotel in your alt location?
Any Slalom folks willing to talk about comp? 5 YoE at just got an initial range only 112 base (high end of their range). Not feeling great about it. This is within their delivery leadership (BAS) Thoughts? Thanks!
What is the virtual interview attire for a tech position at a bank (Morgan Stanley, Goldman, etc.)?
Just got told I’d be moving to the next round of interviews for a tech strategy position at EY. How many total rounds are there after the phone screening?
Had a recruiter that said they’d reach out by a certain day on if I made it to the next round of interviews but I haven’t heard from them yet. Should I keep following up orrrr take that as a no?
Serious question. What baby items are most expensive? (other than diapers, formula, college education, nanny.. Etc)
Anyone had a firm do a background check done using RAI? It’s been over a week and I haven’t heard anything. I’m surprised it’s taking this long because there’s nothing in my background that would raise any issues.
I plan on seriously applying next year. However I want to throw in app for one or two schools just for fun round 2 this year. 330 GRE. Asian. Board of local nonprofit. Enough time for a worthwhile app?
Do tech enabled firms (Doordash, Better, Attentive, Compass) pay their associates well? Curious what comp is for nyc roles
