If Biden wins it sounds like Trump will refuse to accept defeat by saying the election was rigged. Wouldn’t that absolutely destroy the markets?

The markets have chosen to discount Trump’s nonsense in general. Too many rich people will lose a lot of money if Trump decides to not play by the rules. He will install ACB and then he will cease being useful. He will be discarded by the GOP like the bones of a eaten KFC leg by December off to face the trial. The GOP will use to do a clean brake from Trump and then start attacking Democrats about the deficit.

Did you not see how futures reacted at the end of the debate when they were talking about not accepting the results of the election ?

I was scratching my head about the slow markets the last couple of days awaiting the debate. What could happen we don’t already know, I thought? Answer: Trump asked to denounce right wing and racist militias. His answer: sure whatever for 2/10ths of a second, a long tirade about the left, and close with “wait for instructions”. Sounded like a call to arms. This will scare markets and potentially prolong post-election mess if he acts on that. In the long run won’t “destroy”, but tonight was a tease ofthe next 2-3 months until this clown is sent packing. Glad I am mostly on the sidelines right now.

Hey partner 1, the key word in your statement above is “the next day”.

You know why he had to clarify the “next day”? This isn’t something that should ever have to be clarified. And yet he has had to do it multiple times now (this isn’t the first incident) Hint: what someone actually believes is what they say off the cuff. Not what a PR person tells them to do in order to clean up a mess.

When you have to clarify something THIS objectively bad, it is already too late. Sorry, there isn’t any going back.

Given everyone seems really focused about this, I think the markets are already prepared (i.e. will gradually price in) for the chance that he loudly questions the integrity of the election. However, I don’t think anyone making decisions for the large institutions legitimately thinks he won’t leave office in late January if he loses, causing a constitutional crisis. I kind of compare it to when the market did basically nothing when he was impeached by the house, because no one on Wall Street actually thought he would be removed by the senate.

Parents want to send their children back to school not only for educational purposes but also for social interactions. No high fives, pats on the back, sharing earbuds to listen to a new song, or consoling an upset friend. Even facial expressions are lost. Tough times.

Friday was complicated. So, I am going to break it down. Nasdaq 100 Futures (NQ) traded to the 9837 level, 32.75 points short of it's 50% HWB short. It then proceeded to sell off like nobody's business to 9846.50, 31.5 points higher than the projected objective for the HWB short. So, if you followed me on the channel, we were positioned for a nice rally at the end of the day. Markets have no memory on Friday afternoon. So, I think we are going up eventually and rally hard.

Is anyone actually making any new trades today or just participating in the sell-off by taking money off the table/sitting tight?

MSFT, JWN, INTC, OXY/XOM, PEP, CHGG, ADBE are some of the stocks I'm closely watching/considering getting in on.

Option 1: sell puts which protects from further downside but locks my money/caps upside in case we do see recovery?

Option 2: buy shares which doesn't cap my upside in case recovery starts next 2 weeks but risk further downside?

Option 3: ???

A lot of folks, this bowl included, are getting a reality check at the moment, which i think is good for learning experiences. Can’t call yourself an “investor” but the second you see a position fall +20-30% start to question or panic sell. However, if this is you, and your equity position was initiated off a whim or a blind recommendation, I struggle to feel any sympathy lol especially if you were someone buying stocks (MGNI for example) when they were approaching ATH
