If diversity monitoring (age, ethnicity, sex, gender, socioeconomic background etc.) is not assessed in the hiring process, why is it always part of the application? Why not just collect the data from the people hired?
Acknowledging that there is usually an option like “prefer not to say”, these still are required fields in the application forms! I appreciate this can be a sensitive topic, and I am not against DEI, just curious why they ask this at the application stage.

I can't speak for the UK. In the US, I've worked for companies that used the data to inform recruitment efforts, and it's collected in the event of litigation.

I see, thank you for your insight!

Cause the U.S. is dumb and obssessed with race and will place it literally above anything else, including job qualifications.

Where is any evidence showING this in hiring lol.

If that were the case, minorities would have like 1% unemployment

like

Who said it’s not assessed in the hiring process?

like

It's obviously not based on statistical outcomes

For any businesses that are (US) government contractors, they’re required to disclose that information about the pools of candidates they’re assessing, not just who they’ve hired.

Yes. Companies collect demographic information on the pool of candidates. If, say, 40% of applicants for all positions are minorities but only 10% of those hired are minorities then there’s a disconnect somewhere in the recruiting process.

Advice, please!A local, well established firm is seeking me out. I was upfront that I was not looking but because he was persistent and this could be something I’m interested in for the future, I had a sit down with him. At the end, he said the ball was in my court and he would love for me to go through a formal interview. The firm seems great, but my current position is 100% remote and fits perfectly into my schedule. Do I interview even though I wouldn’t consider changing until next year?!

Interviewed for S&O role and wanted to share. Recruiter told me to expect problem solving and stakeholder comm, behavioral and case type questions… It ended up being one 25-min interviewee-led case. I was surprised given all that I had read online about RRK and GCA and Googleyness and the pride Google has in its “unbiased”interview process… it felt like any other MBB interview where your case interviewer decides your fate… guess S&O is just like any consulting firm…

I want to work remotely, but am needing ideas for what to put on my resume. I’ve been an RN for 15 years and have worked mainly in hospitals: med surg, and some work in LTC, SNF, ALF, hospice. Just how to put this on a resume to “sell” myself seems challenging.

When people add percents to their resume, where are they pulling the numbers out of? Like for example reduced costs by $xxx, xxx , or improved performance by 20%, or increased revenue by 15%? If you’re just fixing tickets and working on product feature enhancements (what I’m primarily doing), where do you get the numbers to put on your resume from? I haven’t updated my resume yet to include my current and first job, so it’s gonna be the first relevant work experience I put on there

I am in the final steps of the interview process for an in-house position. I mentioned to the recruiter that I had unvested equity I would be leaving on the table. She said the company would take this into account and make me whole. She later asked for proof of the equity in the form of my account statement and balance, which I provided. I have not yet received an offer. Is it typical for companies to ask for this documentation if they don't intend to make the candidate an offer?
