1 busy season as a senior wouldn’t hurt. 1 full year is better IMO. since that would be your 3rd year in PA if you were promoted to senior at 2.
No. I’m in the same space and looking to go to government or industry in a year or two max, currently a senior in tax. I’m not actively looking but it doesn’t hurt to check out what requirements you need for your next job and try getting those experiences now.
Honestly you might be able to land one of those roles in your staff 2 year.
You can land a senior accountant gig once you get the title, and sometimes as an A2.
I just left for a senior role in industry right after promo. I didn’t see a point in staying another year as a senior when I could already land what I wanted in industry now. I got roughly 55% raise. I can only speak to where I am located, but the market is hot. If you want to leave, find a good recruiter and get the ball rolling. If you have your CPA, it won’t be hard to find something.

I’m a new A2, so I do want to get more experience before I make the jump, just exploring options to make the time pass
I would change that end goal.
K2, sure, but my point is that eventually most people become content with being a forever senior in industry.
I wouldn’t be—plan on staying in public for the foreseeable future—but plenty of people are.
Leave as staff 2! Never make a lateral move
