I was always told advertising is about standing out and 15 years ago brands did stand out. Really great ads, really great branding, really great insights. But these days as humans become more informed, the brands are becoming more misinformed. Buzzwords like sustainability, diversity, inclusivity...can we fuckin stop with the “ity” culture? Average middle class consumer is bombarded with so much Information every second but its same messaging overall again n again. Sure some brands are doing great job on digital but overall, the art of branding & standing out is becoming more banal, safe and even though “edgy” is thrown around by suits, in the end its all cookie cutter crap horseshit being repeated like mindless drones. Luxury brands are more immune to this trend as luxury brands have long-form brand stories & have very niche audience but consumer brands are suffering I feel.

I have social anxiety and I feel like I am being punished because of that. I am not being promoted and was told to work on confidence even though my technical performance was outstanding. I wished I can just "work on my confidence" and boom. But it's not gonna happen like that. Diversity has been the hot topic these days. Why do we view shy people, introverts, socially anxious people as less capable? Should I accept that PA is not for me or can I do something to contribute?

Sorry if this is a bad question but I’ve tried to google and found conflicts. I’ve seen a lot on social media to not use the term “person of color” when referring to a black person. I’ve also seen companies touting diversity on Instagram like “30% black, 55% person of color...etc.”. I’m wondering, what ethnicity/ races are they referring to when they say “people of color”? I’m guessing black +others? Is it everything non white (Latino, Asian, middle eastern etc)? Is it only some Asians?

If I didn’t know that Trump was born into a lot of money, I would have thought that he came out of the ghettoes of Brooklyn. Because, clearly the only difference between him and his base supporters is the money. He is a pure manifestation of the most prejudice and racist beliefs of his base supporters who hate the diversity of America deep inside but afraid to voice it out loud. Just my opinion.
