You are responsible for paying taxes where you physically work, regardless of where your office may be. Your company may deduct taxes based on your office, but when you file taxes you are charged based on where you are physically. NY is weird in that you pay taxes on all of your income regardless of where you earned it as long as you are a resident. In order to pay in the other state you need to be considered a resident in that state and have earned the income in that state. If you are in a neighboring state there are tax agreements with NY for the purposes.

Yes Analyst 1, that’s correct

From my experience it truly depends on how your “time” is booked by the company. For many consulting firms, whose employees are constantly traveling for projects, the individual employees book their time to the different states they work in, and are subject to income taxes in those states. If your office is based in one state, and you don’t have to fill out some sort of time sheet each day saying where you physically worked, then you are typically subject to the state income taxes where the office is located. So in this WFH environment, if your office is in NY but you’ve been working in NJ, you are still subject to NY income taxes

Fauci: “In an unlikely but conceivable turn of events, what if [a scientist performing gain of function research] becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic? Many ask reasonable questions: given the possibility of such a scenario – however remote – should the initial experiments have been performed? Scientists working in this field might say – as indeed I have said – that the benefits of such experiments outweigh the risk” Was it worth it?

Question on H-1B and LCA. 1) If one lives in New Jersey and works in New York and LCA is already filed and confirmed for H-1B, do they need to file another LCA with home address now that they work from home due to covid? 2) Also, for state tax withholding, HR might need to update “employer work location” on HR profile. Does that require filing of H-1B amendment - maybe it is considered employer address changes? Does it require another LCA? Stick both LCA on wall?

I’m not the heaviest I’ve ever been - I’ve lost some weight due to stress - but I’m easily in the worst shape of my life. I go for walks but it’s just not enough to combat the sedentary wfh lifestyle. Any advice on how to make more of an effort to at least try to do better? I have no equipment other than a yoga mat and can’t afford a peloton or anything. But I went to the office to pick some stuff up and took the stairs 3 floors up, and felt like I was going to die 😭 any advice appreciated!

Any thoughts on praying in the office? I’m in the London office and because of some confident bothers, we were able to use conference rooms to pray. Now in my new firm, I’m the only Muslim and so when I do go in, find it hard to find a place. I don’t want to announce it and make a big deal, just want to pray quietly, otherwise I’d have to save my salah for home. WFH has changed this in such a good way but wanted to see if anyone has similar experience or tips?

Hello I'm currently a Consultant in my second year at Accenture. Prior to that I had 10 years in industry. I had an initial conversation with TCS regarding an Industry Advisor position. Second interview scheduled for this week. I currently have a comp of 120, told them I'd be looking at 160 which was not an issue.. With that said can anybody shed some insight on what the move to TCS would be as Industry Advisor from the consultant with Accenture? Is that a level between M and SM at Accenture?

Tip for young ones looking to go to BSchool. Put all your money in traditional 401k. Then when you go to bschool, and have zero wages for that year (maybe the internship), convert to Roth with very low income tax. Tax arbitrage right there! 💸💸💸

What is a current hourly rate for a Broadcast MD/Plan/Buyer in LA who has been actively buying & planning for large & small agencies/clients, 30+ years exp? What is current market demand? I white label for a variety of agencies. Reason, is an agency that I worked for for 5+ years cut my rate 1/2 during the pandemic and wants to keep it that way saying broadcast is dead, buyers are a dime a dozen and that $45 is the going rate, meanwhile offering me a $4 mill TV buy at this rate. Thanks!
