A number of articles have been posted about black Americans moving abroad to escape from the racism and injustice that persists in America in hopes of a better life. Has anyone considered or done this? What made you stay or come back? I’ve been asking myself this question a lot. My family is here, earning potential seems better, but the unending racial issues, and broader economic, social and safety questions (including mass shooting rates), why stay in the United States?
Do you have the CC?
If you weren’t allowed a carry on, United would now make you check-in at airport. If you were able to checkin online you are good to go
I’m global services on United. I get none of my benefits if I book a basic economy ticket. You will not get a carry on on that fare class regardless of what other posters here have said.
I am star alliance gold (Turkish Airlines) and have always been allowed 1 carry-on, 1 checked bag and priority boarding (group 1), UA club lounge access (not available to United premiers) even on basic economy tickets. The policy is early written on the United website. Also summarized on thepointsguy website. Don't know why you didn't get any benefits. You are not entitled to upgraded seats but the benefits I mentioned above (except lounge access) do apply.
You get a carry on and can check bags.
You miss out on choosing a seat and upgrades.
You still get premium economy and seat choice. Just no upgrade
And you miss out on PQP
You get a carry on and can also check your bag for free.
My advice is to call the help desk and see if they can assign you an econ+ seat (for free) - worked for me 10 out of 10 times without paying
