If I file a motion for temporary restraining order with the Southern District Court of NY on Monday, how long can I expect the order to be granted? Thank you in advance for any reply.

Stay in the courthouse. You’ll probably be heard by the assigned judge or the Part 1 judge that day.

I am 60 days into a new EA role in another industry. I support 2.5 partners (I say 2.5 because one of the partners is on a partial leave). I am learning the role as quickly as possible but I do not seem to be meeting the expectations of my manager and some peers. I am also a woman of color in a majority white workplace (3/100+). From day 1 I have never felt accepted and have ignored several inappropriate comments made by manger.

I know I won't be an outlier, but I'm a young associate, and I'm finding it really hard to stay healthy and have much of a personal life. Partners and senior attorneys:

Interested to hear your opinions. Is it impossible to be a litigator and work remotely regularly? I understand that trials and prep will likely be in person, and arguably should be, but I’m a mid-level who has thrived during remote work.

I talked to my managing partner about my desire to work remotely more often and he said it’s impossible to be a remote litigator and it’s important to get back to the office (once everyone is vaccinated and healthy).

Had a partner markup a dispositive motion I drafted and they replaced most of my explanatory parentheticals with block quotes and/or over-detailed in-text explanations of the cases I cited. Does anyone else think this is a cardinal sin or am I just being petty? I was always taught that no one reads block quotes and that parentheticals are just a cleaner, quicker way to highlight favorable caselaw.

This person has been using their seniority to make personal remarks and to try and bully me into messing up my case. What’s the best thing for me to do here? I’ve been extremely busy. Because of this, I have less patience for the constant follow up required for me to get things out the door (I’m talking about weeks of unanswered e-mails and phone calls). I have been finding it difficult to raise the issue because everyone seems appreciative and many partners (including the ones who are causing the unnecessary stress) go out of their way to tell me what a fantastic job I’m doing. Any suggestions as to how to raise this without jeopardizing my status?

Writing sample question. I drafted a really complex dispositive motion that was granted. It was obviously revised by the partners on the case but can I still use it as a sample?

Obviously I would redact or change client/identifying information. It was publicly filed and is available on the public docket. I am not one of the attorneys of record.

Curious what people have done in the past. I'm interested in lateral positions so can't exactly ask the partners I work with.
