I agree with the other comments: that's why they call it "creating paper trail" = cause for term... worst case scenario you can still get unemployment. However, you can buy urself some time if you have valid evidence to prove that the pip is an act of retaliation... also start looking for something new.. good luck!
SM here. I used to think a PIP was basically 100% chance you’re going to get “managed out”. However I did have a coachee that managed to get through it, get off the list and get promoted about a year later. So it is possible to survive and thrive. But do spend time thinking about why you’re on the pip and if you want to fight the process or find something new.
No, you get marked as a Business confirmed low performer and get nothing for severance.
Being PIPd and then termed is usually a term for cause. Typically you do not get severance for that.
