Keep getting approached by rival firms for ~50% salary increases in London. Raised it with my company and got a 5% raise. Don’t want to sound ungrateful but doesn’t scratch the surface of the underpayment of where I am, it’s well below market rates. Manager hinted at getting an offer which they could counter could help but, I can’t see them matching 45-55% I could get elsewhere. Is it a wise career decision to go from a national firm to a local but strong firm? Practiced with the national firm for a year and a half. The firms are the same type of law, but the smaller firm has less billable requirements and is offering higher salary/better bonus structure as well as more independence such as ability to completely run own case load.

My company is sponsoring my greencard and they wanted me to send employment verification letters (EVLs) to previous employers. In the EVLs drafted by the lawyers, they indicated that I gained or used certain skills or software at previous companies (it's a strategy for sponsorship) while in fact I didn't for some of the skills. I'm really afraid my previous employers won't sign those letters. Did something similar happen to you during your greencard filing process?
