If I interned in the summer and started full-time 4 months later, is it okay to put my experience as starting from the intern date?

Salary expectation question. I'm currently in an internship position role with an hourly rate of $22. If my contract ends at the end of August and if I could hypothetically request for a full time contract, should I ask for a higher pay? I think my salary is roughly $42,000/year.
