If I know I want to relocate early next summer, probably June after my 401k vests, what should I be doing now to set myself up and make the job hunt easier? It’s the first time I’ll be relocating.

Do you know where you’ll be relocating to? If you do, do some research into the different neighborhoods and housing market (ex. Prices, broker fees, logistics, etc). Also have your story down about why you want to move if an employer asks.

Looking to get back to NYC. I stayed in the city my college was in after graduating but I’m ready to get out. Story for employers is just family pretty much but could add onto it. My main concern is having no professional connections in NY

Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

Is this a good deal or not. $93,600/year” “BENEFITS “ medical, dental, vision(30%60%90% after CYD) 80hrs vacation time after 1year of employment, it cannot be carried over year to year, nor will it be paid for it upon termination same for sick time which will be granted after 90 days of employment. Max 240 hours. Paid for the 6 holidays but if happen to work holidays will get paid 8 hrs for another day off during the same pay period. No 401k

Can someone point me to some material where I can read about profit sharing vs 401k. I get the concept, but I am trying to understand is 10% profit sharing vested over 5 years better than an employee 401k match of 6%?

From my understanding 10% PS is better because it’s just a standard 10% on top of whatever I contribute though it takes 5 years to vest. Does this mean if I leave before 5 years I don’t get any of it?

How concerned are you about inflation? We have 70% savings rate and 50% of our expenses are housing / utilities of which the largest part is rent which is a fixed contract (no CPI escalation, no automatic increases, paying same rent for 4 years). No car as we are living in a large city. So if I look at the components of CPI and what’s rising I am feeling pretty „good“ about it. The one thing I am „worried“ is asset inflation but obviously that benefits me directly. What am I missing?

Less of a question, more of a request... stop asking your junior BIPOC strats to work on BLM briefs because they are the only voice of color on your team. In a time where we need support grappling with our very REAL realities and how it impacts how we show up in the agency, the LAST thing we need is an “opportunity” to express our “unique POV” on a diversity brief (that we won’t even get to speak to none the less). Imagine having to chanbel your trauma into a deck to sell in an idea to clients?
