Wow. Just wow.
I do think you deserve your bonus, not sure why everyone is shitting on OP. Just wait until it’s paid out and THEN leave lol
Ha ha ha ha ha ha
Also... doesn’t anyone think it’s downright dirty that bonuses are earned, determined and announced at the end of that year, but not awarded for another 3 months and if you leave 2 weeks before that all your work a whole year back is ignored???
P5 where is that the case? I came to consulting after 15 years in industry and never saw that.
@D2, Really? Are they? Maybe these people have spouses who lost their jobs in the past 2 weeks and previous plans to stay out of debt are now vapor in the wind. I think the self-righteousness, fake selflessness, expectation that justly-made social contracts are suddenly unimportant, and thoughtless judgmental crap during a global pandemic are all getting out of hand.
...Sorry. I’ll get it under control.
These post about bonuses during a global pandemic are really starting to get out of hand.
I get it, but for the record, not everyone is in the same financial situation, here. I have medical bills I need to pay, student loans I’d like to pay down now while interest is nonexistent, etc. The bonus, however small or big it is, helps out.
There’s this thing called Covid... you may not have a job and will need to worry about it at all
@D1, fair comment. I feel for those who are worried, but loss of a job pre-August is not a current concern of mine. I am worried about PAYING for grad school though. That bonus would make a big difference going in.
There’s probably not gonna be bonuses this year. Silly.
Just in factual terms, bonuses are normally paid Oct 1. They’re announced in June, but it’s a common retention strategy to delay paying out. So you stay for the quarter. Then there’s mid-years. Then you’ve just got a few more months in the performance year... Then it’s CRT’s again and you might as well wait til that bonus gets paid...
But no, you’ll never see that bonus if you leave in August. And no, before you ask, putting in your two weeks notice mid-September won’t work either
And...you asked 🤦🏼♂️
You have to be an active employee on September 30 to get the bonus. It’s written in policy everywhere. This question is asked and answered for months before bonus payout. Like somebody else said, if you put in two weeks before then, there’s no guarantee they will let you work your notice period and may even terminate you effective the day you put in the notice.
@P1... Wow? Please expound.
Since most of you are young I’ll give you a pass - but you have no idea how bad the next several years are about to get. 2008 dragged on until 2012.
This Japanese lost decade may be upon us all. So spend your well deserved bonus wisely because it might be your last in a long time. And I’d really think about an MBA tract right now because you’ll probably be interviewing for the job you already have.

That’s what I’m doing. Sticking around until the first Friday in September and then leaving for bschool
PwC7 - mind sharing your staff level?
Use your vacation days?
Just switch to IB and get 10x the table scraps you would’ve gotten at pwc
@SC1... what firm are you at? Have you seen that work for other folks?
I’m at Deloitte. My program doesn’t start until the third week of September so it works for me, I’ll still employed on the day they are paid out.
CRTs haven't even happened yet. You have no clue if you'll even get a bonus
PwC2... Boooo. Not at you Haha Your realism is appreciated. Why would the mid-Sept notice not pan?
They let you go and pay out your two weeks. They are, after all, bean counters
