If I start a new job this month and contributed 17k to my Big4 401k this year, do I just tell the new 401k how much % to take from each pay check to hit 2500 from now till Jan? How will they be able to know if I accidentally go over?

Yeah, you need to calculate it. The new 401k won’t know if you go over which will cause penalties down the line.

Well, go down slightly. Your bonus will also contribute to it at the same withholding rate. Did you include *it* in your calculation per paycheck?

At what income levels does it make more sense to do traditional vs Roth 401k? I typically max out my 401k, doing 10ish percent with 2 to 4 % going to Roth. I never really thought too hard on it - seemed beneficial to do both, but is there an income level at which it makes more sense to do one vs the other? Also does anyone take advantage of HSAs or after tax (not Roth) contributions or any other things like that?

Stuck here. Offer A is 5 days a week in office, commute is not too bad, 95k. Offer B is hybrid two days in office, commute sucks, 100k and better benefits. Really great vibes with the entire team at offer A even though the company is a bit old school. Offer B more progressive company, but I 100% felt like I was the back up's backup and they waited for their top picks to reject before my offer. I know for a fact I was Offer A's first choice.

In this new year, I would like to get better at investing. I am embarrassed to say that all I have done is max out my 401K every year. And while I do have savings, its sitting in a bank account unused and just making the bank money. A big part is the lack of knowledge I have on the subject. I just don't know where to start, any suggestions on good how to books for beginners? What daily news sections should I be reading?

Thoughts on Indexed Universal Life Insurance as an investment vehicle? I hear the pros and cons from the sellers of this, whom I understand gain heavy commissions. But wanted to get thoughts from investors and if this isn't a good vehicle, what alternative investment vehicles do you suggest (outside of stocks, Roth, 401k, and real estate)? Looking to diversify my portfolio. I'm 43, married, income 600k combined, and we have 2 properties worth 3m and investment accounts worth ~2-3m. Thanks!
