If I tell a recruiter of a place where I’ve finished 5 rounds and have 1 left, that I have an offer I need to respond to this week. Then they came back and said the team wants me to talk to CIO (not hiring manager) as final round but CIO is OOO until next week… how do I respond? Obviously I need to make a decision whether to pass on other offer if I prioritize this place, but do I “devalue” myself if I eventually pass on the other offer to wait on this place?

Accept the offer in hand. Then continue to play with these guys. I think the way they are behaving their offer likely isn’t going to be great and will make you feel good having accepted the offer from the other employer. Now if this firm however comes up with an offer that is so much better (and CIO didn’t give you any bad vibes/red flags) than go for it. Obviously you have to go back on your offer from another firm but in this market that isn’t unexpected any more. Look out for yourself.

Hi OP, fair question since I am going off your brief note and not data. A gut feeling /life experience;) I have at least 50% chance of being correct. Either way my advice for you is to find out. If you feel like it drop me a note whether I was correct. Maybe my gut needs fine tuning…

Wow that's tough. Seems like a good chance you'll get the offer though if you already passed the hiring manager, right? You could try to ask the other place to extend your deadline to accept/decline their offer

Lots of talk about inflation, layoffs, hiring freezes, pay cuts, and stressful job shifts lately. Does anyone have any advice or encouragement to share for those who have been impacted or fear that they will be soon?

I'm applying for a job that wants at least two business or professional references. Thing is my current job is my first job out of college and I don't want them contacting my current employer. Who am I suppose to list as a reference? Leave it blank although they personally asked for references? List college professors? Ask a coworker to be a reference and not spread work I'm leaving?

I've completed the final rounds for 2 companies: AWS as an L7 Principal PMT and another that's a Series-A funded startup in the HCM space. I expect offers from both: AWS around $400k TC ($250k base + $150k stock) and the startup should be around $300k TC ($250k base + 20% bonus). If comp wasn't the ONLY consideration, what would you do? The AWS role will be an IC role and more hands-on/technical. The startup will be a CPO role reporting to the CEO with a team of about 50 devs+PMs.

Went through the loop and got an offer but it was below expectations. During the recruiting process I was told it was a sr manager position, but when the offer was extended it was for a manger. I have a competing offer that came in after I already accepted the Amazon offer and now I have no idea what to do. The other offer is stronger but… I mean it’s Amazon. And if I don’t take this now I’m never going to get here again bc there is no way in hell I’m going through that loop again. Any advice?

Has anyone lateraled from big law into an in-house role at one of your firm’s clients? I feel like this happens quite a lot and curious how that process went (did you reach out to them, they to you, etc)? I’m in my second year and staffed on a large client & starting to develop a relationship which I’d like to maintain. I’m thinking about hanging in here for another year or two but then starting to look to lateral. Would love to work for this company if a position is available at that time.

Hi all,
I need one help. Some recruiter asked me to send last pay slip and relieving letter even before scheduling the interview, kept calling me multiple time for this. She’s staffing for EY but she’s from vizolt (her mail ID says so)

Is this a fake call to collect information or is that how EY interviews are usually?

Thanks in advance.
