I work in accounting advisory. You don’t need to be a good auditor to be good at this job. I wasn’t even an a financial auditor and was rated very highly and was promoted. At the earlier levels you just have to be willing to learn. What I do like about AAS is that every project is different, so I don’t get bored. In terms of work like balance, for the most part I would say it’s pretty good, work around 45 hours a week. Had some weeks were I got to 55 but besides that it’s been a nice pace. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

I was in the risk assurance practice at PwC prior to joining EY
Continued: Have my CPA and left audit at a big 4 after one busy season and am on track to get promoted in 2022 to senior accountant in my current role.
you're saying industry accounting is too stressful? if so don't think advisory is going to be better for you
EY 1 Sorry saying the opposite. Industry is not stressful at all but audit was very stressful.

No, AA is more stress than audit because the schedule is unpredictable. It’s more enjoyable than audit but I would consider it more difficult as well

Much faster pace than audit. Deadlines can change overnight, new work can come in and a 40 hour week can turn to 60 with little notice. With the spac boom, there was record activity last year which resulted in equally high turnover.
We don’t have enough staff to do the work we have so we’ve been hiring like crazy. I’m a senior manager in cmaas and the group has been great for me but it’s definitely got its own set of challenges. Happy to talk more, most people are going to paint a rosy picture because referral bonuses are high but it’s more about making sure it’s a good fit from both sides
Probably dm if interested in pwc
