Can anyone market size how much business either big 4 or MBB generate for hotels, airlines, and car rentals? This could be a great case.
I’m an incoming AC1 at Bain and I have spent the summer studying a bit for the GMAT since we had a stipend. I took it with no practice and received a 640. After studying on an off for a couple of months I received a 690. I’m likely going to cancel the score since I realize it isn’t enough for M7. To provide some more insight on my profile. I graduated undergrad from UofM BBA Magna Cum Laude, have interned in Big 4 consulting, IB, and VC, and I’m an Asian-American. What should I do?
Anyone know the implications of having a side tax business while at a big 4? I have done returns in the past but setup an entity for liability protection. If I report it will there be an issue?
Is anyone working at a big 4 office in tax role in Florida? My family needs to move to Florida in the near future but not sure what’s out there? Your input is appreciated.
Are there industry jobs (PE, HF, etc.) where I would still work similarly as hard as B4, but get paid commensurately? e.g. instead of a standard 9-5 industry getting 100k, 9-7 industry getting 120k
If I quit for another Big 4 firm but different service line, will I still be asked to leave immediately?
I don’t have a degree but consulting experience at Big 4. I learned you can get a bachelor degree in wine tasting, do you think it would still be accepted as a regular bachelor degree for future jobs?
For those of you who left big 4 for industry - I’m seeing a lot of people saying they got 30% + raises when leaving. How did you find these jobs willing to pay that much more? Looking to leave at the M1 level and having trouble finding anything with much more than a 10-15% increase in base comp. from my current salary. Would it be dumb to leave for that low of a percentage increase? Some are offering equity in addition to the base comp. but hard to put a specific value to that now.
What is the range for a senior consultant in Advisory (FRA)? Currently at 100k (another big 4) in the dc area so what kind of bump should i expect
Anyone in Big 4 who is in AUP (unclaimed property)? I’d like to focus on it (best WLB I’ve seen so far) and jump firms. Have almost 2yrs AUP exp (more in tax). Can anyone share insights on your teams?
Has anyone left for a local firm and bounced back to top 10/big 4 or top 10? I've been interested in working at a local firm for some time, have an opportunity, but want the opportunity to get back to something larger if I learn I hate it.
Do Big 4 give more time to settle down in the new job compared to a mid size? Does it work the same way when people are asked to improve before the firing i.e, big 4 gives more time to improve?
Can Big 4 people get their mail sent to their office since they are there most of the time? 😂
Anyone have experience moving from a mid-tier firm to B4? What big differences have you found in work load and stress level if any? Is the switch really worth it. Currently A2 and on track to S1.
Curious to know what associate/consultant level compensation is in MBB or Big 4 in 2 locations: Tokyo vs Singapore
How do you for sure if big 4 is not for you?
Looking for some direction. Just finished paying off my law school debt. I'm 29 years old. $40k in taxable brokerage account, $15k emergency fund (3.5 months), $20k in 401k. In September I'm starting a new job that will pay me $200k which doubles my current salary. Will max my HSA, 401k etc. But should I be making Roth 401k contributions in this tax bracket?
Does anyone know any agencies (or even client side) hiring a seasoned Sr Program Director or PMO lead? Preferably Chicago, but open to other cities for the right job.
Would you choose an investment job at a private, partner-owned long only fund where you’re guaranteed to never lose your job& can be a multimillionaire; or at a very top L/S HF where the bottom performers are fired each year, but you could make multimillions in a good year? Another related q, would you forego the offer at the first place to potentially get the offer at the second place, knowing it’s very competitive? Assume you’re target background, at another top fund, good work ethics
What does the Investor Relations career path look like for someone coming in at an early-ish level? I’ve heard it’s kind of dead-end and doesn’t really teach you any hard skills but pretty easy, especially if you can produce a decent track record of fundraising. Also, I’ve heard comp is ok and typically lower than consulting (and WAY lower than the investment teams…) and mostly concentrated among the top dogs. Accurate? Anyone know people who took this path?
This might be a dumb question but when folks say max out 401k contributions, do they mean the full 19.5k per year? I usually do the 5% to get my company match.
Just had a client FaceTime me to present because her Skype wasn’t working...that’s a new one.
How many hrs of delay are needed for monetary compensation? This is due to aircraft issues
Setting up our first small business 401k! Should we be an ERISA 3(38) advisor? What are the pros and cons?
Has WFH improved your love, married life?
MBB? More like DPEK
I had a dream that I forgot to mute on a weekend firmwide call, began gossiping with my roommie about who's fucking who & what a fluid-covered mess it was, &my boss fake fired me to teach me a lesson
If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?
Interviewing with google for a PM role in their search business recruiter told me max base they can offer is 165-170 and total comp is 250. I currently make 200 base and 75 in equity in industry. Cont
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Free and Reduced Lunch, pensions, health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, caring for your neighbor, and PUBLIC EDUCATION. That’s just a small list of things I’m told I should hate because they’re all socialist. I’m not at all sorry to report that I’m FOR all of those things. Call me whatever you want.
Hey everyone! Recent transplant (26 F) who moved here during Covid (family reasons) so still not quite familiar with the areas. I’m currently living in Brentwood but looking to move. I’m considering Marina Del Rey as I want to be a bit closer to the office (in Venice) and the airport for when things open back up/travel resumes. I tried searching here but didn’t see a lot - what is the reputation of Mar Vista (and if possible - how is that different than Brentwood?). All opinions welcome! 🙂
4 YOE in consulting, MBA (not a top tier school), currently at ACN making $125,000. Was indicated to me that I’m about a year and a half away from making Manager. What would some fellow consultants do in my position?
