Private equity exits are only really likely if you go to Harvard, Wharton, or Stanford. M7 is more likely to get you into MBB. Strategy rotational programs in tech is definitely easier from M7. I-banking is way easier from M7, but can also be gotten from schools like Duke, Rice, Emory, NYU, Berkeley, and Darden from what I have seen. Big 4 consulting is pretty accessible to top 25 schools.

Definitely agree about the previous investing background. Most of the PE folks I know were in IBanking prior to MBA. Yes you’re right, private equity is really tough to get into even from HSW. I’ve just read and noticed friends going through those schools to get into PE.

I probably used poor punctuation. I have a M7 and am currently in Finance consulting. I'm unsure what exits to get since I don't like what I do.

Ah gotcha. Agree with EY1; your network matters more at this point so network heavily.

Posting on my wife’s behalf - We recently moved to the US and she is currently looking for a good role in HR consulting. She has previously worked with KPMG, McKinsey, Korn Ferry and WTW in Talent and Org. consulting practices in India for about 12 years. She also recently cleared her SPHR certification. It will be a great help if anyone can refer or aware of any job openings in NYC area. Thanks!

Is investment banking really that pathetic as a career? Thinking of getting into IB. I have 1 year in tech consulting, and 1 year in strategy consulting. Is it worth getting my wlb hit for 1-2 years?
