They are not accurate. All depends on your story.
Is it even worth it to apply to m10 schools? If it makes a difference, I’m a minority.
I used aringo online calculator. I'll find out how accurate it is later in the spring!
@D1, okay good to know. @P1, this information belongs to a friend who isn’t in consulting, but our estimated gmat scores and demographics are similar
Ouch. How did you get a job at Acn? How much sub 3.0 how strong of a school? Tough one.
What was the arc. Like lots of Cs freshman year and lots of As senior year?
Maybe you can weave a story about why you had the low gpa. Family issues, etc.
I wonder also if you retake 1-2 of the classes you got Lower than a B at a community college and get As if that would help. Especially basics like English, stats, etc
Another idea is to take subject SAT for some of those subjects and include that in your app. At a minimum that would satisfy the adcom concerns around you being able to handle the courseload.
Either way I don’t think it is a slam dunk.
Another move is to enroll in another program like public policy or social work at your target school that might be easier to get into, take a couple mba courses and crush them, get the support of your professor. Then apply to a joint mba program. Of course this will cost you more, but you might be able to get some aid
Personally, I didn’t do terrible in school, but not a 4.0 either. So taking CC classes to supplement the courses we did poorly on makes sense
I think anything over 3.2 is okay. Over 3.5 is good. I mean if I was about to get anything less than a b in a class I would just drop it or switch to pass/fail. Getting less than a 3.0 can totally be controlled if it’s a required class and you must get a c in it, take a individual study and slam dunk an A. If you really can’t get a decent gpa then switch majors or switch schools. Best of luck!
