That would help. If your portfolio is primarily equity, I would not be as concerned. If your portfolio is primarily fixed income, tips would help with unexpected inflation. They are priced to return the same as regular treasuries with expected inflation

We create targets for ourselves, then race to chase them down. Be it for a better career, money or a much higher standard of living. But I guess our youth pays a price for it. Edward Jones advisor with 30 million AUM and roughly 250k gross production. Been there for almost 4 years. Got an offer at Merrill Lynch to take over a 100 million dollar retirement transition plan in 5 years, or to join a 5 person Merrill Lynch team that manages a lot.

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

It’s not much compared to most of the posts I’ve seen in this bowl, but I finally hit $10k NW after I started working FT in August.

24, a decent amount of savings in the bank. I’m sort of interested in buying a property in the next few years.
Is this a good or bad idea? I live in Ny area, so obviously the city would probably be too expensive to buy any property. Would probably have to buy further out in westchester, Long Island, maybe connecticut or NJ. If I buy, should I be living there? Or should I rent it out until I’m ready to live there (assuming it’s a bit further from the city). Very early stages of just thinking
