You wouldn’t be eligible for high deductible if you have traditional coverage. Your spouse could have single coverage and you could do high deductible separately.
Under the tax laws, you can’t have an HSA if you don’t have only a high deductible plan. I know there is some workaround if one spouse has a regular plan and one has an HSA, but I believe it’s a household thing usually.
I don’t know the right answer. But my wife and I did this for several years until she got a new job. Her insurance was really cheap so we were both on her plan and got the family-level hsa match. I also had individual coverage at my work with an hsa and got that hsa match too.
