It’s roughly 1/3 pre-MBA and almost 1/3 joining consulting altogether for M7. There are definitely folks leaving and the new consultants joining
I personally never liked tech, has technical career prior to MBA —> wanted to learn consulting skills

Some people did struggle for a while but end up finding great positions after 6 months or so post graduation. And some could not find these great roles. A little luck (right time right place) could really change the outcome
My school is pretty big, and then there are other M7, so you do have a very fierce competition among good roles. Essentially M7 will open doors but there are quite a few of students.
I went to a T15, and I legitimately was one of 3 non-ACN implementation consultants in my entire class. Even including ACN, there were like 15 total consultants. Your underling assumption is off.
This checks from my experience. T15 has fewer consultants than M7. A lot of people are less M7 obsessed than are consultants.
On average former consultants are less than 25% of the class. For the class of 2022: HBS - 15%, Booth - 24%, GSB - 17%, Wharton- 24%. Almost half of the consultants are sponsored - mainly from MBBD. A good number of the T2 and below consultants try to get into MBB. Then you have people coming from other industries hoping to break into MBB cos of the salaries.

Those #s are really helpful! Not sure how accurate the T2 statement is however (S&, OW, ATK). Almost no-one at LEK at least I know going to B-school is going to try for MBB....my friends at Big 4 + Accenture are different story though.
So did that make consulting recruiting much easier for the 3 ex-consultants?
