Not everyone wants to keep working all of those hours after consulting, and case prepping is easy to teach. Anyone working at MBB could do it if they wanted to.

Maybe because those MBB coaches saw a market opportunity in the competition and allure of people seeking a job at those firms, so they lept in with the business savvy and entrepreneurial skills they learned, and now they make decent money on easy work and living an actual life on the side, or do it as a lucrative side hustle with a 9-5 job.
Sundar pichai Sheryl Sandburg , James Gorman , John legend, mitt Romney, and the list goes on. If you’re going to just look at YouTube case coaches then yes that all you’ll find. Selection bias.
Wouldn’t you picking those exact people be selection bias too lol
Pro
A successful case prepping business (while hard to build) >> VP in industry
Case prepping: 100-300 / hr (after client acquisition costs), work from anywhere, easy work, work as much as you want, no real boss
Typical VP in industry: 250-500k / year, work in an office park in L/MCOL sitting in a dingy office 3-5 days a week, 55 hrs a week dealing with internal politics taking 7am/9pm calls with Europe or China, 1-3 months a year of travel to cities where courtyards are the best property
If you think about how many MBB alumni there are, those that are selling coaching/casing are relatively few and far between.
Also, those services can be high priced on a dollars/hour basis, have little variable cost, and can be done remotely. This makes them great side gigs, or even decent full time jobs with no jerk boss, no 80 hour weeks (unless you want to), and so on.
Rising Star
Plan A is to make partner and ride it to senior partner, plan B is case coaching lol. I’ve been at enough clients to be turned off ‘industry’ for life and don’t have the skills for tech
