If my body is my temple, and a temple is a church, do I still have to pay taxes?

Taxation is theft, financial rape, stealing the fruits of your labor, going to those on the dole or on entitlement or foreign wars or refugees or welfare moms so that the taxpayers afford fewer children. It's not that I'm conservative. It's that I'm a realist and consciensious. And those on the other end of the spectrum will just eccomunicate you for your thought crimes of not consenting to let them give away other people's money to the charities of their choice. What a filthy racket. Our taxes are how are oppressors pay for our chains, and I'm not a conspiracy theorist. Taxes rape me financially because they go against things I disapprove of, not just roads

I got into an argument with my girlfriend about this yesterday - we live in East Harlem, which is almost entirely housing projects. Every time I go to Costco, the people in front of me are buying the most shitty, sugary food for their poor kids - all on EBT. I know that SNAP and food aid is truly immaterial in the scale of the federal budget, but I feel that it is the first rung in the entitlement ladder - the behavior and entitlement issues that spring forth from a program that subsidizes garbage food incentivizes irresponsible behavior. It drives me nuts that I'm buying beans and spinach and contributing to my HSA, trying to make myself as healthy as possible, while these people are making their kids pre-diabetic and asking the rest of us to pay for the inevitable healthcare bill.

Society can't run without taxes unfortunately. Most of the taxes paid towards what you feel are "welfare queens" or whatever gross term you like, are offsetting a greater cost to the economy. The vast majority of welfare users are using the system appropriately, they get back on their feet and start repaying the welfare through income taxes and adding back to the general economy again. If we didn't provide assisstence, those people would be an even larger drain on us.

War I agree with though, they can go fuck themselves with how much of our money they use on wars.

like

They could save the money on wars and regulate the welfare system more efficiently to prevent abuses, and still have billions left over. Two birds, one stone

It's not an entitlement. It's a paid benefit. You have no idea what you are talking about.

EY2 I agree with you completely.

Romans 13 and Mathew 17 start with verse 24.

Lol - no one is advocating to break the law, we have to comply whether we like it or not. We are just stating that we disagree with the law. Are you implying that you agree with all laws?

In summary: no, eating vegetables isn't going to solve the country's woes, but literally subsidizing people to eat trash is pretty terrible public policy.

Foe the hundredth time: anecdotal is not fact. It's crazy how some people are incapable of seeing how lucky they are. Imagine being born handicap, born to a drug addicted single mother etc. Yeah it's easy to say that they still can succeed but their idea of average or success is going to be worse than someone who was born under a healthy nuclear family. Yes there are abusers but wealthy people are so plenty of wealthy people are su sidized by the govt. Oil, green energy, war profiteers is all welfare to a degree. If it helps, instead of thinking of it as a cost, think of it as an investment in the hope that one of these "welfare queens" will produce the next Bill Gates, Elon Musk etc.

People collecting disability or SS are not going to be the next Elon Musk. People collecting SNAP and living in Section 8 housing, maybe, but the vast majority of entitlement spending is going to the elderly at this point. It's a wealth transfer to a different generation, that's it....not an investment.

It functions as a tax. There isn't a true "SS" fund where your money is sitting - the money paid in is immediately paid out. Pensions, in comparison, are actually funded. Do you honestly think that SS will exist when we retire?

The current seniors have been paying for these benefits for their whole lives regardless of how the payments are made or received. No I don't. I think that since medicine will increase our life span and they will need to increase our retirement age. I also think that as technology increases we just won't have enough jobs for everyone. We aren't close yet but within the next 40 years I think we will get there and our economy and tax system will have to adapt to those changes.

Anyone have a manager that has a grudge against you? My manager missed something a few months ago which led to him explaining something wrong in a meeting with our other boss. I corrected him/gave him the answer (unthinkingly I'll admit) after our boss left, and since then he's had the worst attitude with me and only me. It's making work so awkward. What's the best way to solve this?

Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?
