If my direct reporting partner is unavailable for a call so I can give my 2 week notice, should I email him or should I reach out to someone else for a call?

Just put a call on his calendar for any time that works best for you with the subject line “2 weeks notice”.

Email and call your counselor

The partner is also my my counselor

funny

At my last firm I told two partners first that wasn’t my direct report.

I would tell him in an email you’re putting your 2 weeks notice in.

What happens if you counselor is not available?

Do you have another partner you can speak to? I’d send your direct partner an email, and speak to the resource/talent manager re/ next steps

You can still put your notice in. Just schedule a call to tell them on a day that works.

I put mine in through HR and then told everyone after I did it.

Call him anyway. If he doesn’t answer, leave a voicemail explaining your intention and send a follow up email asking to speak over the phone again concerning your resignation. I strongly suspect he will become available quickly thereafter :)

He's not available at anytime...? Message him in teams and tell him you have something important that you just need 2 mins for. He'll make time quick because he'll know what its for...

If he keeps ghosting give him the middle finger and send your notice to HR.

Tell HR and let them deal with it.

I left a great team and high-visibility, high impact project with a client that loved me for a few more $$.

Had I stayed, I would have been festering on comp and constantly worried about my financial future.
Since I've left, I feel financially secure but listless and bored with a lame team on what I've discovered is a skeezy upsell.

Anyone else had to deal with this? Did you boomerang back?

Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?
