If the July new hires already start at 2k more than last years October and January hires, how will our raise put those us with a year of experience soon much above them?

It won’t, you have to quit your job if you want to get paid more lol

So there is a market adjustment happened in you city/area. Just using whole numbers, let’s say you started at 50 and new badge is starting at 52 which means about 4% market adjustment for new hires. This means that your standard raises (at least for staff and seniors) will be 4%ish higher than average years. So if your raise was going to be 6% you will get a raise of 10%. Your raise will put you where the new badge will be next year assuming other things are same. We went through the same market adjustment last year

That helps a lot thanks. Two of us got hired from the same school except I was asked to start early in January so I did. We signed the same but when she started in July her contract changed lol

If you are making 60, and you get even a 5% raise (which is at the low end), you would get a 3k raise. It's not great, but still is more than the new hires. I'm not saying its fair, but that's how it works. But I hope your raise is more than 5%.

That’s reassuring. I was shook to find out I was making less than the new hires with virtually no changes in the cost of living in my market

Lol the new hires who started 4 months after me are making 5k more 🙃🙃

So this might be a better place to post this and ask this question: Uncle D has announced explicitly that most people won’t get a pay raise & bonus this year except for those promoted and high performers. Amid this crisis, are companies including other big 3, MBB, FAANG, boutique consulting firms still giving high raises and issue stocks? Can you share the impact from your firm?

currently working in house as social media manager. i’m still a relatively new hire (less than 6 months), but really have hit the ground running and have made some serious progress in the company. recently my brand acquired another business and they are now asking me to manage both social and content needs. it’s definitely something i can take on but it’s still a challenge. is it appropriate to ask for a raise? should i wait a couple months in to managing the new brand to see how it goes? help!

I was asked to take on formal supervisor duties without a promotion or raise for at least 1 year. Tips on how to negotiate this?

I work at a mid tier firm in an audit group of ~20 people. We’ve recently had two seniors and a manager leave, and I just found out another senior with a ton of big jobs is leaving in three weeks. I also just found out I’m being promoted to senior with a raise of 10%. In light of all these departures though, I kind of want to ask for more.... should I? And what % raise is appropriate? Any insight appreciated!

Moms, I am 14 weeks pregnant. At KPMG, the new year starts in October and basically by spring of the following year, so April 2021, is when they put people up for promotion for the following year. My goal is to make it on that promo list in April 2021 - But thats when I am due. When should I inform my team that I am pregnant and how do I let them know that I am still willing to work hard for this promo despite my pregnancy? Thank you!

This is a long shot but wondering if anyone has experienced this. I just changed to H1B status last Oct and my bank mailed me recently after tax filing deadline (I have filed tax in time using H&R block) asking me to fill out W9 if I am a resident alien / another form if I am not. This has never happened in previous years. Does it mean I missed a form using H&R block or is it related to the status change…?

I started working in a agency two months ago, and I have two very big projects running simultaneously. My Creative Director left for paternity leave, and left me with all the work, facing the client, going to shootings, editing. I've been working 15 days straight, no weekends. The agency hasn't given me any back up/someone I can team up with to do the job. Is this normal? I'm used to have a partner, a copywriter or another creative working alongside. Keep in mind that I'm mid-level.
