Have you checked out the “ask a recruiter” bowl? So few people attach a cover letter that when someone does, I make an effort to read it. Mostly it’s just some crap that the applicant has copied and pasted, but sometimes they’re really great/funny/engaging, and if their book passes muster, they go to the top of the pile. I always appreciate the effort, and it helps to show your personality a bit more
Gonna be honest, every great job I've had, I never wrote a cover letter for.
I’ve never submitted a cover letter but do have a bio. If you’re looking for cover letter tips Google has a million of them.
I always wanted to ask someone from HR this question. I’ve always felt I’ve NEEDED to do it, even if the process didn’t indicate it was mandatory. Felt it would look bad. But I have received call backs for interviews when I haven’t. If it’s a job I’m extremely interested in I usually put the additional effort in
Also, if I need to submit one, any tips on how to write one? It wasn’t needed for any previous jobs.
