They can't force you to use PTO
Quit immediately - get paid out and then still get two weeks off - win win
They can't force you to use PTO. Inform them that you're giving your two weeks and have no intention of quitting. They won't fire you. There's no cause and too much paperwork. They'll end up paying you out two weeks salary and your PTO at the end. Don't let them play you!
^says who? If you just say "no, your last day is today." And pay it. It's the same as forcing you to use it...
Don't do either. Tell them you're giving two weeks notice and intend to work it. They will not fire you. Too much paperwork, approvals, and hours required by HR. Don't let them bully you into taking your PTO. Make them pay you for your final two weeks and then pay you 100% of PTO payout.
PTO payout
@pwc1 they can fire you on the spot and then have to pay you out the PTO. I would rather have the cash and not be showing up then next 2 weeks.
Wait, I'm confused. Assuming you have 3 weeks accrued PTO. Quit now= you get paid for your ill 3 weeks PTO. Take the two weeks' notice as PTO= you get paid for those two weeks plus the additional week of PTO you have accrued. The same result either way. Am I missing something?
you can decline and they might let you go on the spot.
^Won't this require filling out paperwork since they would technically be firing you? You've not quite. I would imagine there are some hurdles to clear internally before they can actually fire you. Is it worth it for them to go through the process of terminating you, when you're out in two weeks anyways?
