If one more partner tells me to watch a YouTube video or read a HBR article on leadership I will puke! What ever happened to natural born leaders?

Maybe they're telling you you're not one

There’s no such thing as a “natural born leader”. Leadership, just like public speaking, is a skill that needs to be trained and practiced. I’m sure there are plenty of hierarchical micro managers who take credit for their teams work who also believe they are “natural born leaders”. But everybody hates them. Point is - if your leaders are telling you to learn more about leadership and how you can improve your leadership skills, it’ll probably be beneficial for you to do so.

Bro, HBR articles are hella good and actually worth a read

It’s still a good article

Stop whining and get an executive coach already!

Worked for a company that made every single employee go through a deck in a standup every AM from 8:30-9. Required meeting for all 800 of us. And 90% of it was clips from TedTalks.

It’s always in group settings. Why don’t we just cut to the chase and call out underperformers, set some goals and expectations?

Got it. So I can continue to not hit my metrics and as long as I am well liked, can speak to the latest trends in managing people, etc I will make the next level? That makes more sense now.

I have been unhappy about my current job for a bit now, been at the company for almost 10 years, and have started looking for a new job. I have a solid job offer on the table, but a newer PE group just reached out and are looking for a high level either VP or Director of retail sales (my specialty). I am more interested in this private equity group as I would get to build a whole team and really make a retail strategy but they are newer so I am unsure the stability. Thoughts on working for a PE?

MC with acctg/finance background and 6 YOE in fin transformation, process enhancement, mgmt reporting and financial data. Light data analysis and process automation focus. CPA, but no MBA. What is a realistic exit role? It seems like most recommendations are focused on strategy and tech, but it feels like I'm only qualified for financial analysis roles. Somewhat new to the bowl, so I'm hoping for some perspective.

Hi all! Does anyone have any advice/resources on how to prep for business intelligence roles interviews? For example, data analytics/viz quesions (not necessarily coding on spot but explain how I would approach a data related request). So far I have been answering based on my work experience, but want to do a more systematic prep if possible

Does anyone else here have a health condition that doesn’t increase your chances of getting covid compared to other people but if you DO get covid you’re at a high risk of getting severely sick? I’m in this position and worried about having to go back into the office soon, taking public transportation, etc. Our workplace will not be requiring masks or vaccines/knowing vaccination status and it’s making me worried having to deal with the increased risk.
