If we survive this thing with our jobs, does it mean we will be expected to not take vacation for the rest of the year?

I have been in the pet industry all my life for 15 years. I have worked my way up through to upper management of a store. I have always been very emotionally invested in my job and I have always pushed myself to the breaking point trying to do the best I possibly can. I am made to work in very unsafe environments, made to do two managers jobs at once and not get paid for it, and made to feel lazy whenever I take PTO. I think it’s time for a career path change, but what now??

My advisor called my medical accommodation a “benefit” when bringing up their frustration about two people in my team taking vacation at the same time so FA will have to be in office those days.
I literally had nothing to do with their issue. They were like “well what if you decide you need t work from home that day?”
I’m thinking about talking with them and clarifying that my accommodation is not a benefit and I would appreciate it if they addressed it as such. It caught me off guard I’m ngl.

It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Hey all - first year associate here… I’ve met my hours requirement for this year (requirement is 1900 and am currently at around 2050 with billable hours - approx. 2160 with non billable admin hours) and I am just tired. Is it okay to just “disappear” during the holidays (thanksgiving week, week of Christmas) and let partners and senior associates know I am not available? At this point I don’t care about making more money - I just want to sleep, read a good trashy book, and cuddle with my dog.

I hate how billable hours are inextricably tied to your sense of worth/achievement in this job

I get paid here on the 15th and 30th. It just seems so much slower than getting paid every other Friday for some reason. 😩

I wish more of you would realize it’s okay to say no to the client sometimes. You don’t ALWAYS have to kill your team to meet a client’s unreasonable and unnecessary timeline. Client isn’t going to leave the firm if you push back occasionally.
