If we survive this thing with our jobs, does it mean we will be expected to not take vacation for the rest of the year?

Anyone with any sense knows that people are stressed by the current situation and are going to need some down time at some point to recover. When that is, no one knows. So while you’ll be able to vacation at some point and should do so, the timing is very uncertain. In the meantime you need to pace yourself and work especially hard to care for yourself now with sleep, hydration, good food, exercise, and fresh air.

Had to postpone my May wedding and honeymoon to November already. You can bet your ass I’m tacking on some extra days to that honeymoon.

like

Ugh glad you asked this. I had a vacation planned for May 😭

I don’t think I’ll get a vacay this year/take one. Though honestly these last few weeks have been so stressful I’m already exhausted and I haven’t even been billing all that much. But I don’t see it happening, unless I see that there’s absolutely no way I’m making my hours anyway.

Also my main partner currently thinks this is “vacation” for me (has called it my “covid19 vacation” even though I’m sitting in front of my comp all day anyway responding to emails and addressing client concerns, which is even more exhausting than normal document work), so he’d think any other vacation would be uncalled for... sad as this is to say.

like

That’s a brutal situation A2. I’m sorry that your partner is an asshat. It’s hard to imagine anyone considering WFH during a pandemic to be a vacation. Do you best to take care of yourself and get away from your computer for at least and hour a day and at night. There’s nothing good these days inside that depressing box. Hang in there and make sure you plan and take good vacation whenever it’s over.

Yes.

I think it depends on the department you’re in/what services you provide. I get that a lot is on hold now, or after this M&A, insolvency, etc will become slammed. I also think any good employer would allow their trusted employees to still take a vacation when time is right. Be flexible with plans. You’re likely to not jet anywhere.

You can’t bill for vacation.

I have been in the pet industry all my life for 15 years. I have worked my way up through to upper management of a store. I have always been very emotionally invested in my job and I have always pushed myself to the breaking point trying to do the best I possibly can. My advisor called my medical accommodation a “benefit” when bringing up their frustration about two people in my team taking vacation at the same time so FA will have to be in office those days.
I literally had nothing to do with their issue. They were like “well what if you decide you need t work from home that day?”
I’m thinking about talking with them and clarifying that my accommodation is not a benefit and I would appreciate it if they addressed it as such. It caught me off guard I’m ngl.

How's the leave policy in Pwc AC Bangalore? I joined here recently and I'm not sure on what basis the leaves are added. In my previous organisation for every month it automatically adds 15 hours (1.5 days) of leave every month and the maximum leaves eligible was 30 days. And I got 7 days sick leave on top of that from every September. So could someone let me know how it works in @pwc ac Bangalore?

Hi, I’m looking to switch into marketing (entry level), as consulting is not aligned with my skill set/passions. Does anyone know of any ad agencies in LA that have good work-life balance, good pay, PTO, great culture, training? Your help means more than you know!!! Looking to do informational interviews and try to network my way in, as I feel the barrier to entry was much harder than anticipated. Anything helps, thank you so much!

Hello Infoscians/Ex-Infoscians!

I will be joining Infosys this Thursday as a 7+ YOE Tech Lead. I am an avid trekker and every year I go on a trek at least once which requires me to take a 5-7 working days off. Its actually my passion.

Just wanted to know how difficult it is to get leaves approved and officially before how many days do i need to inform my manager?

Is there any SOP for applying leaves at Infy?

Thank you in advance!

It feels like my pay and title are lower than my scope of duties. I manage Youtube channels and do all strategy, planning, talent management, rework content for socials, reporting, graphic design, + a bunch of other stuff. Do you think I should be something like Video Content Manager? A Strategist maybe? My company doesn't have career pathing & I think they'd be happy to keep giving me more work with the same pay. Anyone else update their job on Fishbowl and get removed from all their bowls unexpectedly? I somewhat understand getting removed from the Consulting bowl (though it’s odd since I still have ties/can contribute to discussion there since I worked in consulting). But I can’t even access the Product Management bowl, which feels pretty strange to be in tech but barred from a product focused bowl. Mostly just wondering if anyone had luck getting back into bowls?

Hey All,
I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.
