McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

No, it’s a boomer thing.
Such an ignorant comment to say it’s a boomer thing. Plenty of young people do want to be in the office, myself included, because being home alone can be super boring. Agreed that plenty of older people do not want to go in because they’re tired.
I try to remember that we all worked fine together before COVID with the same background noise. I’m thankful we still have work and a job.
Comparing going to the office to a horse and buggy is laughable. Most people were still going to the office 5 days a week until March 2020. It wasn’t that long ago. Many still do. Plenty of people die in car accidents on a daily basis by the way, so just because things have changed doesn’t mean they are perfect.
It’s a control freak thing.
Our partners have been slowly pushing for more mandatory in-office days. Meanwhile, none of them ever come in unless they have a deposition or something.
And a control thing
I guess it’s one way of asserting control and power. 😂. People like power, even at the expense of their employees’ happiness.
This sounds categorically insane.
Wow, I’ve found a job with policies dumber than mine. Did not think it possible.
Demand high a quality headset! If everyone does it and they see the cost maybe they’ll rethink their poor decision
Wait, you all have to be on a constant zoom call at all times?
DA’s office??? Aren’t you in court all day anyway even as an intern?
This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. So if you are just reviewing a document solo you have to be on a zoom call?
Yeah so these days are either
A.) Supervisor cold calls us for eight hours about what should be redacted on a given document
B.) break out rooms in which we do the same thing, but smaller groups.
C.) Zoom recordings of old videos or interviews about the merits of prosecution/ how great our given borough is/ generic nonsense that is not helpful that we all join the zoom meeting for while one guy shares his screen of the recording
We are one month into our two month training. One more month of this.
Not sure about the Zoom but being in the office and together in person is not the same as being remote and the whole debate is quite tiring.
People claim they do not want to go to work but they still want to hang out with friends in person, grab drinks in person, go on trips, etc. Looking at photos of the ocean is not the same as going in the water. You can cook at home but it’s not the same as going out to eat, and so on. People who stay home all day are really missing out.
