If you are a top performing Strategy Consultant at Deloitte, would it be difficult to jump to MBB?

More about how you case than being a top performer. But once you get in, it definitely helps. Made the jump a year ago and consulting experience definitely helps you get started faster, but they do things a bit differently here

like

In what ways are things done differently? Overall, would you say it's been worth the jump?

like

You will pass the screening then it’s up to you to pass the process.

I made the jump. I was at 2.5 YOE at Deloitte and moved over the to McKinsey as an SBA.

What was the pay difference?

It literally doesn’t matter. When I came over, they didn’t ask me about my performance at all. You could be on the verge of being fired for all they care. As long as you do well in the cases and interviews you’ll still get the offer.

like

Doesn't really matter if its difficult. Just shoot your shot. May have to downlevel but w.e. - MBB has a pretty fast route up if your goal is to stay in consulting long term.

A1 is right though - casing > being good at your job (at least to get in).

like

Yes.

helpful

It's always difficult and they don't necessarily know that you were a top performer.

That's what all the candidates tell them and D isn't going to comment.

like

True, from what I’ve seen top Deloitte > average mbb but average mbb > average Deloitte

Hi fish,

Kindly consider this as most confused situation of my life and reply.

Does a non-tech PMO candidate can also achieve 30-50 LPA in just 5-6 years of experience as you technical people are achieving.

Please also suggest, should I continue in this PMO and go for PMP, Prince2 then try or just learn some technical things and then can only expect this much package?

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

I read everything there is to read on what to do/not do/eat/not eat… My previous experiences have removed any kind of “innocent excitement” I had. Does it ever come back?
