I have a CD title but swing between imposter syndrome and bitterness that I am underpaid/undervalued and want to hear from others if I would ever be taken seriously elsewhere. I make 108k/NYC at a non-agency “media company”. I have no prior relevant experience for this role, I just sort of fell into it. I draw storyboards, strategize, write scripts, make decks, direct shoots, art direct/set dress/food style shoots, am on screen talent/creator, etc. No direct reports. Been here 2 yrs. 😕

On a new team, internal move. Have about 10 YOE but looks like this will be the first year I end nowhere near annual goal. Why does MIT Sloan admissions suck so much? Is their EMBA program really second grade as some people suggest? Is that why they don't give rats arse about responding to potential candidates' queries? How are they this indifferent and still M7? No hard feelings, and I hope their admissions isn't representative of the overall quality of their program. I'm not here to rant, but honestly want to understand if I'm missing something.

Sloan invites rolling out! May possibly a through the day rollout through email? Unless they've just invited all invitees and not updated portals for waitlists, so on? Not sure what % of people have got invites, i know 3/4 so far.

For people who have applied to the joint degree with HKS, do you have to separately apply to the MPP and MPA? Asking since I know you can only do the MPP with HBS but for any other joint (GSB, Wharton, MIT) that people prefer the MPA

If you’re accepted to a top feeder school into MBB and have Consulting experience, how much does MBB care about GMAT?

Do I need ECs to get into a T20 MBA? 324 GRE, T20 undergrad 3.8gpa. I’d like to apply in a few years before my GRE expires, but with Covid am finding it hard to do meaningful ECs. Ideas? I’ve been doing nonprofit consulting on the side but I’m bored doing it virtual. I just wish working were enough 😑

What are your income expectations 5 years post MBA?

Having a hard time staying motivated through the application process. I know conceptually it’ll be worth it to go to the schools I want to go to but it’s so far away that it doesn’t feel real.

How did you guys stay motivated? For those that have already started your MBA program, what’s something that I might be able to look forward to that might keep me excited/motivated?

How important is company prestige for M7 adcom? I have a lot of achievements but the company’s name is not well-known.

I’m 1.5 months delayed in getting my recommender a gift, what should I get him? I got into CBS but I don’t want to tell him the news before giving his gift for fear of sending the message of “hey I got in, so now I’m grateful and here’s a gift”. Do I send the gift, then tell him I got into CBS a few days later?
