If you book a call at a weird time like 2:10. There is 100% chance I will be late or miss your call altogether.

You've been warned.

I’ve no problem as long as u decline the meeting so I know - or tell me not to book a meeting at this time.

No, they told fishbowl. Probably the least productive use of their time..

Takes 60 seconds to propose a time change to the meeting

I didn't read this as OP forgetting the meeting or something, but more saying that if you schedule at :10 after you're burning that entire hour timeslot so they will probably squeeze a short (maybe 15 minute) meeting into the 10 minute gap and be late.

The way they said it was kind of rude but honestly... I agree. I am back to back all day and this would make it a lot harder for me to schedule anything especially if several people were doing it.

I like to start meetings at :00,:30, or maybe on the 15s at worst and then just make a point of ending (hard stop) 5-7 mins early.

We intentionally book calls at 5 or 10 after to give people a bio break or chance to get from one meeting room to the next. Be open to change, you might see some benefits!

likehelpful

Just block your calendar for lunch - then no one, including your manager, should book that time. Your manager should respect your lunch hour too

Do you expect the people around you to be flexible and adapt? As a VP, I’d expect you to be willing to do the same.

It's an embarassing self-pwn. Like at a former employer I was in a meeting where flexible PTO was (finally) announced, and a manager asked "How will I know if my reports are abusing this?", which was tantamount to admitting that he was fundamentally incompetent.

You need to pay attention VP. Many of us are setting outlook to start 5-10 minutes after the hour to give folks time to wrap up previous meetings and have a minute for a bio break or to catch their breath.

You got this. Just watch your outlook reminders 😜

I completely agree! I have a hard enough time remembering calls at normal times, let alone this kind of planning. I know some people are able to make the most of every moment, but that's not always my strong suit.

likeupliftingsmart

You're a cock.

Looks like someone is trying to book themselves time between meetings. I don't book meetings that way, but I get it. Wouldn't you still get the same 15 minute reminder from Outlook?

Who the hell starts a meeting at 10 after?

VP you literally just said you'd be late if the meeting starts at 10 past

KK, we’ll just schedule your meetings for 6pm moving forward

When your job is literally meetings you should just get over yourself and goto meetings.

I get what OP is saying. It doesn’t have to do with being a VP. If you want people to attend a meeting, make it on the hour or half hour.

like

I have set meetings on the 15’s. Especially if I know most people where in an hour or more meeting before mine. There no reason to schedule on the 10’s.

like

I didnt take the OPs post as sparky, rude or not being flexible. The norm has been in :15 min increments forever so let's stop acting as though it's some new phenomenon and they aren't willing to adapt to a new thinking.

like

Had a meeting request yesterday that I received at 3:10 for 3:10 and it was a kickoff call… wtf? Lol. Did not attend, 0/0 for planning.

likefunny

hey EVP - who exactly are you warning on Fishbowl lol?

Personally I try to schedule meetings to end 5-10 min before top or bottom of hour (depending on length) to allow transition - unfortunately can be hard to end on time

Last year an intern group did an improvement project on meetings. They found that when people go from back to back meetings, meetings should start 5 min after the hour to give time for people to take a break, get water, etc. So we implemented this for one meeting. People all join 5 min till the hour (10 min early) and we sit in awkward silence on mute for the full 10 minutes 😂

Tips on work life balance is this instance? My acct is only about 7 months old & considered a huge win/growth driver for my agency. The high stress, adhoc requests never stop. My GAD is so hands off — Never picks up slack, just delegates, never says no. Then comes in at the last hour to nitpick yet not help. My clients & team (minus my GAD) are good people but it’s hard to live with such a high volume stress. Any strategies for surviving this acct? Not native to the fact this is agency life :/

I am done with my 2 technical, 1 managerial and 1 HR round for Amdocs. HR told me that they will be releasing offer letter today but when I dropped them an email asking for the status they said my candidature has been put on hold. Also, I can still see they are hiring for the same position in their careers section. Is there any chance that I'll be getting my offer letter or shall I stop following up with them? Please someone suggest.

What would you do?

Your teammate with the same title and pay as you is at your desk all the time for help. I'm definitely open to helping - but sometimes "help" is basically the whole job - it feels like I'm doing both jobs lol and it almost feels unfair that we both get paid the same or very close (Colorado, so pay transparency). The teammate has been with the company for longer than me.
