If you could give one piece of advice for career progression what would it be?

I’m so burnt out from working in pharma and can’t stand the work I’m doing any longer. People who have switched out of pharma, were you happier after making the jump?

What does the progression track look like for post-mba consultants at MBB? Specifically, are there notable differences in promotion timing amongst the firms? I’ve noticed on LinkedIn that several BCGers have reached principal level in 3.5 years (2 as consultant, 1.5 as PL) whereas it seems to take a minimum of 4 years but sometimes even 5 for McK to reach AP level (which I believe is the equivalent?) Is this an accurate assessment?

What books would you recommend for someone wanting to get better at sales?

Any former art directors/advertising creatives who moved to product design or who work at a consultancy able to talk? I’m looking to make the switch and have questions on the best way to pivot

Does anyone know how to successfully transition from academia clinical research into industry clinical operations? I’m currently at a director level of a large research program in academia and oversee operations. Prior to that I was a clinical research coordinator with extensive trial experience from study startup-close out. I’m not sure what level would be a good transition step and open to new roles/opportunities as well.

Have you worked at an agency that felt like it had process nailed down? It’s my biggest pain at my gig now and I want to jump ship but not if it’s the same thing with a different name on the door.

I have a tech background and 12 years of experiencem I have always done both project and product management. I'm now switching jobs and have received two very good offers. One as senior technical project manager, one as senior product manager. Somehow I'm more attracted by the company that offered me the project management position, but the other company, offering a role in senior product management, pays way more. Hi all - amateur investor here who somehow started getting in the market right as things took off. I didn’t pay rent this year due coming back home after COVID so had a lot of extra $ to invest. Currently maxing my 401k, Roth IRA, and ESPP. Not maxing HSA but contributing $3k, so close.
After this, I have a $500 monthly auto investment into a vanguard fund & have been intermittently buying stocks on Robinhood.
What else should I do with any extra cash I have?

Been working in Big 4 FDD for a little under two years, interviewing past 2-3 months for FDD, strategy, and IB. Received an offer from a MM FDD group for a 25% pay bump, but mainly looking to pivot out as I’ve burned out of FDD and want to move into a more finance focused role. Currently moved into second rounds at a senior strategy role for a F500 and case study stage for two boutique IB’s.

Would it be dumb to turn down the guaranteed FDD role and see how the others turn out?

In American English it means, "very." Based on reactions when I called our director, "quite smart," it means something like, "almost?"
