Even without direct contact with the CFO, tone is always set at the top. I wouldn’t take a job you are not thrilled about but I would certainly stet exploring options so that you can leave when you find the right opportunity
Bad leader already clinched it for me. Nothing worse than reporting to idiots! And sexist is wrong on top of wrong!! Vote with your feet. I have faith in you OP!
Do you work directly with the CEO? How much daily interaction do you have with him?
I mean this is such a personal choice. The smaller the firm, the more it would make a difference for me. But if you care personally and can leave without damaging your career, absolutely.
Tone at the top is huge! For one, bringing back the "how does my job make a difference " that's thrown around as a millenial thing... my old firm's CEO made me feel like our everyday jobs change the world. His energy, his positive leadership style, his overall message, made me love the firm, the job, the idea of tax returns... lol Yes, I'm going a little extreme, but it's to make a point.
The day that our local leadership changed and I started hearing contradictory messages, that was the day I started losing motivation, feeling like a just a number, and considering a change. Tone at the top is very important. Pick your side. Find a place you fit in, at least from the beliefs and values system perspective.
Good luck!
